Saw some posts of weight loss on a friends facebook, looked amazing! She put me in contact with her nutritionist who I met with. Spent an hour talking about weight goals/lifestyle then… bam. Basically it’s have 3 powdered drinks for breakfast and shakes for lunch. I was a bit blindsided as we’d discussed how I make all meals from scratch, always eat as a family, want to improve the balance of our meals etc. She went as far as suggest I sprinkled the protein powder on my toddlers meals!!!
She ‘calculated’ my age/body condition which amazingly came out quite good but now I’m questioning everything she said?! How can I work out my own body fat %, and how much to eat (balance of protein, carbs, veg?)

Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, it's not a protected title.

Ignore it all, see a registered dietician.

was this in Manchester area ?

Some nutritionists are snake oil peddlers, some are great. https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/wider-healthcare-team/roles-wider-healthcare-team/clinical-support-staff/nutritionist

The average Brit eats too many carbs, not enough fibre.

Gyms and some places like Boots have scales that can work out body fat % roughly. If you stand in front of a mirror in you undies and squish bits of yourself, you will get a good idea of the firm bits and squidgy bits.

Is this Liverpool? 🙄

TotesDelulu · 18/04/2024 14:16

This is 100% a common thing. There's one in my town, bangs on about healthy habits and meeting your individual goals and tailored nutritional advice but actually she's just a Herbalife rep with great PR strategy.

indianwoman · 18/04/2024 14:22

Is this Tunbridge wells? 😆🙄

A dietician is what you need. Dieticians have actual regulated qualifications at degree level or beyond.

Wheeeeee · 18/04/2024 14:38

In the (approximate) words of Dara Ó Briain...

Dietitian = dentist
Nutritionist = toothywoothyologist

Gah I am sooo sick of these lot! Herballife, Juice plus, its all exploitative trash designed to extract / waste your money

A few ladies on my fb post the most god awful claims about juiceplus, saying it can help autism, diabetes, epilepsy, CANCER, the list goes on..
The most stunningly intelligent minds to ever exist in history of humankind couldnt work out how to cure these illnesses, but we're saved, cos here comes some facebook bellend with a BTEC in eyebrow plucking, selling what can only be described as Jesus himself in magical easy-to-swallow pill form..

These people have no shame.

I roll my eyes and laugh, but there's desperately ill folk out there who will try anything to feel better.

No, sounds like London to me.

In fact, I know exactly who she’s talking about as it could only be one person! 😂

IDontHateRainbows · 18/04/2024 15:42

I used herbalife a long time ago after gaining weight in pregnancy I used it for the support and weekly weigh ins, have no problem with herbalife sellers calling themselves weight loss coaches etc, nutritionists is stretching it a bit but as PPs have said nothing illegal

Beatrixslobber · 18/04/2024 15:53

Why did you go ahead and buy it though @MugshotMoggy ? 😂

@Twentyfoursevenn I am going to ask the next fool that I see selling this rubbish if they have a Btec in eyebrow plucking 😂

@IDontHateRainbows it should be illegal to call yourself a nutritionist when you are just part of a pyramid pushing powder hun.

Mrsjayy · 18/04/2024 16:18

Anybody can call themselves a .nutritionist so you buy their crap I'm sorry you were scammed.

MugshotMoggy · 18/04/2024 17:15

@Beatrixslobber @Mrsjayy thankfully I didn’t buy it! She didn’t mention Herbalife at all until she pulled out the breakfast shakes and signing up pad then I was like errrr! No thanks!
Btec made me laugh a lot!!

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 18/04/2024 17:16

Least you didn't buy it.

therealcookiemonster · 18/04/2024 19:21

this is why you don't go see nutritionists (mostly hacks) but dieticians who are registered professionals

Ihatelaundry · 18/04/2024 20:01

It’s an MLM pyramid scheme, run! You need to see an dietician for proper advice.
