Bed bugs or fleas??

I think it must be bed bugs, but I have scoured every inch of my bed and I can't find any evidence. I have been bitten this week - 2 small clusters of bites. How do I know if it's fleas or bed bugs?
We have a dog, and we treat her monthly and she isn't scratching- but she might have brought in fleas. I don't know how we could have brought in bed bugs.
What do I do? I guess I hot wash the bedding either way.

Clusters tend to be bed bugs.

Brush the dog and then place. Some of the brushed hair on a wet kitchen roll. Fold it over and leave for a minute. Flea dirt contains blood so when it comes into contact with the water it leaves a rusty coloured stain on the tissue.

Bed bugs gather in dark corners, like the joints in the bed frame. They are also a nightmare to get rise if and just washing the bedding won't do it. Sadly. You will need expert help. And probably new bedroom furniture Sad

I am so confused now. I have search every square mm of my bed and my bedroom, and I have not seen one single bit of evidence that we have bedbugs, and yet I am getting bitten every night. I have used a magnifying glass, and I am not exaggerating when I say that DH and I have spent hours every day trying to find them. I have washed everything I own on a hot wash, and yesterday we got a new mattress.
I have not seen a bug, or a casing or an egg or the tiny rusty marks. I have used a magnifying loupe on every piece of dust or fluff. I have read 100 websites with advice and photos of what to look for.
I feel like I'm going insane.

Oh, you poor thing Sad
I am no expert, but I gather bedbugs can live not only on the bed, but in gaps in the floorboards etc.
Really hope you get to the bottom of this soon.

You could try getting some bed bug traps and see if you catch anything?

Could it be scabies rather than bed bugs? Scabies is becoming a real problem in lots of places.

Thingsthatgo · 21/04/2024 12:17

Oh maybe it's scabies. This is not fun. I feel contaminated.

Get some Indorex and treat all rooms. When we moved house my dc was being eaten alive at night. Was terrified it was bed bugs, searched everywhere, set alarms to search in the night, tried all sorts. Sprayed the house with Indorex and we've not had a problem since. Fuck knows what it was that was feeding but it's dead now 😅

Do you sleep with your window open? Where are the bites?

Could a bug have flown in and bitten you?
