What do I need?

Redecorating a room and I need to cover the bed base as the colour doesn't match. Can I just use a valance sheet directly on the base of the bed or is there a specific item I can buy to do the job?

Meant to say, the bed base has drawers so it would need to be something that can let me access these

I tried a valance sheet but the polycotton fabric was too thin to really cover the colour, and I didn't like the fussy frills. So I took the valance off and added thick upholstery fabric. I put two corner strips on, then a flap to cover the front.

You could get a large bed throw that covers it all, if you’re bothered by it.
Or a valance sheet, as you say.

You could even get your favourite fabric, cut it to size and glue it with fabric glue onto the base. You could get it well coordinated that way and it’s a little craft project too !

We did similar with a homemade head board as they all seemed to be varying shades of greige and we wanted vibrant floral.So we made our own. Trip to John Lewis fabric department and craft shop for staples/ glue. Quite fun.
