Home printer

Please could you recommend me a home printer? I have a HP one that’s absolutely shit and I’m at the end of my tether with it!
It’s just for printing work documents, not really for anything with graphics, black and white is what I’d use the most - hardly anything in colour.
I’m not remotely techy so nothing that’s complicated and fiddly 😂

I would recommend a laser if you are happy with black and white.

We had this issue with home printers. I highly recommend switching over to one with a toner cartridge instead of ink. It's so more reliable and similar price per page. Ours is only black and white, but is WiFi/Bluetooth access so can print from phones as well as computer.

I'll have to go check the make.

Will laser avoid the problems of glitchy printing? It’s full of ink; the rollers are clean, when I tested out printing images it’s absolutely fine but when I print text every third line is missing 😭

I just need something reliable - I didn’t think I was asking too much but no one else I know recommends their printers either. No idea why they’re so problematic!

Laser would be much more reliable for your needs I think. One of the drawbacks is they're not as good for printing photos, but if you don't care and just want fast reliable document printing they're great.

Ours is a Xerox laser. Laser printers have toner, not ink. It lasts for ages and doesn’t dry up. It’s also extremely fast. The picture quality isn’t as good as an inkjet printer but that isn’t an issue for me as I print predominantly text.

We've just bought a laser printer after a run of about five crap inkjet printers (and the HP was the final straw!). Our new laser printer is brilliant - it's a real workhorse and just does what it's supposed to do, quickly and with no fuss. I'd never go back to an inkjet now

Get a cheap laser.

BW only will be cheaper and cheaper to run because they only have one cartridge, but you might consider getting an all in one (scanner, copier printer) but not sure they do those in black and white.

I have a cheap HP laser that cost £50 a few years back and it is great. You can leave it forever and the cartridges never seem to jam and it prints perfectly unlike inkjets.

They are being phased out by some manufacturers I think though because they are less environmentally friendly. I would buy one before they go !

I've got an HP Envy. No one would be envious of the piece of shit. I have come close to throwing it out the window many times, so following!

Okay lots of praise for the laser and lots of rage at the HP offerings!
Thanks, I knew MN would help me in my time of need 😊
