Moving to Chichester

Hi all
I live near West Croydon, on a main road with traffic noise 24/7. The noise is affecting myself and my 12yr old. I want the quiet village life for us . Her school is terrible aswell. I don't want her growing up in the croydon environment . We can only home exchange and we've view a lovely flat in a quiet cul de sac in chichester.

Our 12yr doesn't want to change schools and she's worried she might be bored in Chi. We visited over Easter break, looked at schools etc and we both liked it .
Am I making the wrong move ? Will I regret the move ? Need advice please .thanks

There’s not as much going on as West Croydon but it’s a nice area to raise children. Some parts of Chichester aren’t very nice, whereabouts is the flat Have you visited the area? Traffic can be a pain, there’s no NHS dentists, shops in town are awful, many doctors surgeries are rubbish but some are good. Dd (13) and I love going into town for coffee, it’s close to one of the best beaches around, some great things on at the theatre, some lovely places to eat. Council tax is extortionate.

Did you mean a village near Chichester or did you mean you were moving to Chichester itself?

MrsAps · 16/04/2024 21:15

ThursdsyTomorrow I meant Chichester itself

Lovely place to live. Lots to do for families and young people.
I grew up very nearby and would move back in an instant.

I love Chichester! Used to visit every year at least twice till recently.

Know someone in East Croydon who finds it rough, but don't know about West, is it better? Chichester so nice though and very walkable, not sure about what's there for kids but I'd vote for it!

Where in Chi? Like anywhere there are good and grim areas. The A27 is a nightmare and traffic is generally heavy especially going E out of the city. Shops in the city are lacking, countryside is beautiful.

I grew up in Chichester. As a younger teen it was great - I could cycle to the beach or into the South Downs with friends. I guess it depends how much freedom you let her have, and what she likes doing but in summer I used to disappear with friends to the beach with a picnic all day.
