What time do you feed DC dinner?

We have two DC 4/6.

We've always had dinner as a family at 4/4:30 and then DC have a snack at 6ish and bed for 7:30.

I'm beginning to think this model no longer works.

DC are home from school at 3:30 and starving so they have. A snack but then don't really eat their dinner.

Just wondering what others do?

Hi

Ours is other way around, we have a light stack around 4ish and then dinner at half 5/6.

I do give another snack or cereal before bed if they're hungry again before bedtime (half 7ish)

We did this - always ate as a family between 5 and 6 where possible, but I appreciate not everyone can due to work hours etc.

Whatever time on whatever days it suited the family. If it's a meal that can't be done in portions at different times or can't be reheated nicely then we wait til all the family is home and hungry kids/adults get snacks until the late dinner. If DH is heading out for a nightshift instead then we try to eat before he leaves. We just go with the flow and now my eldest is getting ready to move out and youngest is in primary school, it's clear it worked for us.

Mine always sat at the table for dinner with us around 7pm, even in high chair :-). When coming in from school, had a decent snack then but the real meal and sociability came later when we ate together as a family. There are no hard and fast rules about it, people have to do what suits them.
