Gastric band slippage

Dawn1331 · 16/04/2024 11:21

I've had a gastric band for 16 years and not lost substantial weight due to the port flipping so only one fill but I think I'm having symptoms of slippage. Has anyone else been through this? Tia

Posters on here have had their bands removed and had a sleeve/bypass. Join up and ask on there.

I had a bypass 8 months ago and have lost 8 stone. I gather most surgeons think there are too many issues with bands to do them anymore.

@Shizzlestix I had mine so long ago and started researching and most folk get them removed after 12 years. Thank you so much for replying x

This is quite common apparently and bands are not routinely done anymore. Look into the possibility of having a revision to a bypass.

@imnotsickbutimnotwell I'm currently sat in the Dr's waiting to be seen. I can't eat anything I fear there's a pouch I just want it out x

@Shizzlestix @imnotsickbutimnotwell she's referring me to bariatrics and I've stated I want it removed. Doesn't help in the mean time with eating and drinking though x

Hopefully they'll sort a revision, but I think you have to really push!

I told her I haven't ate in 48 hours and she reckons the omeprazole will sort it out. I'm frustrated and scared it's going to get worse x
