The serving hatch betwixt kitchen and dining room? Everyone seemed to have one in the seventies and I haven't seen one since.

Bloody great idea. If you are cooking everyone knows to fuck off until the hatch is unveiled. If it's shut and you aren't cooking you can relax without feeling the need to 'help'

Preferably in that bubbly glass

We never had one, but some of my friends did as a kid. I always thought they were a great idea! But I suppose these days, with a lot of places having kitchens big enough to have a dining table, or being open plan, there's not much call for them. Dining rooms seem to be a thing of the past too! I've known 3 people change theirs into an extra sitting room/office!
