Child benefit payment

My CB has been paid in today and it’s £3 short and I’ve no idea why- (we don’t earn over the threshold). I’ve logged on to my gov gateway to see if I can get any information but there’s nothing to suggest why, just a list of recent payments. I’ll try calling someone tomorrow but just wondered if this has happened to anyone else this week.

Why are you concerned about £3?

GrazingSheep · 15/04/2024 21:43

Presumably because it’s not what the op was expecting?

I'm not sure. But it's april-start of financial year. Maybe payments have gone down?

Yazzadoo · 15/04/2024 21:54

@DevonshireDumpling1 err because it’s less than I’m entitled to. Might seem like an insignificant amount to you but it adds up over the year. I have 1 child so should receive £25.60.
I wondered if it was something to do with financial year hence asking here. I’ll call them tomorrow.

The rates have just gone up so it might be that part of the payment was at the old rate.

HÆLTHEPAIN · 15/04/2024 22:02

Do you get it weekly? Or monthly? If monthly, it will be because it’s paid in arrears and the new rates don’t start until 6th April so will be slightly less for one of the weeks.

Wtf. Do you know the OP and their circumstances? They could have budgeted to the exact amount and relied on the usual amount. Maybe think before you comment?

Yazzadoo · 15/04/2024 22:10

@HÆLTHEPAIN its paid every 4 weeks. Yes that would make sense. I’ll probably see what next months is then before trying to get in touch. Thanks everyone.. well almost everyone

Yes, good idea to check next time. I know that my PIP is funny amounts for the first month of the tax year so that is probably why - but obviously double check as you say.
