Pregnant with sickness and I’ve got a migraine I suffer with them normally but this migraine is so so painful. I’m trying to drink water but so hard when sick to keep anything down. Just taken two more codine and paracetamols but was sick 5 seconds later so don’t think they have worked. I woke up at 10 and went back to bed an hour later until 3 ish. I’ve called 111 2 hours ago but no call back. I’m crying in pain in a dark room not sure what to do.

Fellow migraine suffer, I'd ring 111 back and tell them what has happened.

I wouldn't take myself to a&e with a migraine as there is no way I'd cope with the, lights noise and having to wait for a long time.

I actually can’t call 111 on my phone had to use my partners and give 111 my phone number he should be back soon so I will try again then

@Pregnancysick Can you put something cold (cold wet flannel, ice pack in a tea towel) on your forehead and something warm around the back of your neck (deep heat works well if you have it, though the smell might not help with the sickness). It might be enough to take the pain down to a manageable level. Hope you get some advice soon.

If this is not typical of your usual headache then yes you should go to a&e. Pregnancy puts you at higher risk of (though still rare) other serious causes of headaches.

Pregnancysick · 15/04/2024 22:24

I’ve got a cold hat on my head been rotating two all day out of the freezer. Can’t stop being sick thrown up minutes after taking my pain meds so they’ve probably not digested enough to work. My partner came back took one look at me and said I should g to an and e as I look awful and am very week.

How long have you been throwing up for? You could be dehydrated. I’m not sure what hospital could do for the migraine but they could help with dehydration

Dodie66 · 15/04/2024 22:27

I agree. As you are pregnant I think you should go to A&E

dinmin · 15/04/2024 22:27

Are you SURE it’s a migraine and not eg a thunderclap headache?

Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes · 15/04/2024 22:27

How far along are you?

Heartoverhead1 · 15/04/2024 22:29

My immediate thought is eclampsia so yeah id go to a&e.

sofeduprn · 15/04/2024 22:30

Hyperemesis (extreme morning sickness) is an acceptable reason to attend A&E.

It sounds like you are dehydrated and will need IV fluids

ProjectKettle · 15/04/2024 22:32

How far along are you? For some women, this can be a sign of preeclampsia (including for myself just a few weeks ago). In our trust, there is a direct maternity line to ring and they will usually bring you in directly so you can avoid A&E. Are there any instructions on your notes about what to do?

Applecrumble24 · 15/04/2024 22:32

Yes, go to a&e or walk in centre

I ended up in a and I and then resus had a reaction to the anti sickness. it’s the same brand I take every day but they think I was shocked with the amount in such a short time. All better now but definitely wiped out after such a shock to my body.
