Possible stem cell match - what to expect?

I was contacted in December as I was a 'potential match' for a stem cell transplant, unfortunately I was unable to help at the current time do to having surgery that month

They have recently contacted me again about being a potential match and i am having test etc done this week

I know I not a guaranteed match at this time, but can anyone tell me what I should expect after having the tests ?

How long should I expect to hear if I am a match after having the tests ?

If I am a match , how quickly would I be donating my stem cells?

How much time would I need of work ? (This would not be an issue with me work just curious)

I will only be able to donate via blood due to my recent surgery

Any information greatly appreciated 😊

There's a decent bit about it here

www.dkms.org.uk/donation-explained/stem-cell-donation/peripheral-blood-stem-cell-collection

I take GCSF weekly and it can be not the most fun - it gives me a mild headache, fever, and bone pain for 24hrs

My DS was called up in December (DKMS), he had to go for blood tests and fill in an extensive questionnaire immediately but was then told it could be several months before he would find out if he would donate, he was stood down last month.

If he had had to donate he was told he would have to travel to a regional centre to donate and to allow I think 48hours off work, they asked for dates of holidays, exams etc to avoid. Following the tests they wrote to him about once a month to say he was still under evaluation as they are usually evaluating several potential donors per patient and that it does take several months.
