What time will it be?

If it's after dinner I'd probably go with little less than if it was before.

Either way, I'd pick up a pack of those foil takeaway containers and send guests home with any leftovers.

10 items per guest, normally sandwiches and wraps get left.

It's 3 onwards, Brilliant on amounts just getting in trays of sandwiches wraps etc, cheese board, sausage rolls, mini pork pies, crisps.

Looking for easy ideas

Cheese and crackers, pasta salad, mini sausages, quiche, tiger loaf or French bread and nice butter, crisps and dips with peppers and cucumber sticks.

i find sandwiches get left over.

Get slightly bigger pork pies and cut them into quarters.

TunaCrunchy · 15/04/2024 17:22

Don’t go too mad on pastry, one thing is enough. Cocktail sausages, especially honey mustard are good and chicken satay sticks.

Is it an open ending one, when do you plan to bring out the food?

At 3pm (or let's say 4pm) I would prefer cake and nibbles than savoury food. That's for me dinner food and more a 5.30pm onwards.

I personally would put more "cut yourself" food, cheese board, charcuterie platter, poached salmon, fresh bread than pre-made sandwiches. Add bowels of olives, crudities, nuts. Pasta salad, potato salad.

Chicken wings.

Most meat eaters love them.

The problem with sandwiches is they have a really limited time they can hang around for before they are either dry or soggy! A good cheese board with crackers, chutney, grapes, nuts etc you could still serve pork pies, sausage rolls etc.

Popchippps · 15/04/2024 21:08

I find sandwiches always get left

so I would have some rolls with cold meats and cheeses so people can make one if they want

then do as you said with sausages rolls etc and some crisps and salad bits

Yes but they are also absolutely messy to eat.

Meh! Just dig in and wipe your fingers on the tablecloth 😁

I got stuck on bowels of olives and my taste for buffet went away!
