Hiya! I know that school places are sent out tommorow but when I found out about my sons a few years ago I remember it being at midnight. Is that still the case? And if so is it midnight tonight or midnight going into Wednesday??

My understanding is midnight Tuesday AM, as in tonight/Tuesday. Well I hope so anyway as I don’t think I could wait another 24 hours 😅

Depends where you are. Our London borough sends out the emails at 5pm tomorrow.

LoveBluey · 15/04/2024 12:17

When we applied for a reception place a couple of years ago I got the email 30 minutes after midnight so I'm hoping it will be the same now we're waiting for junior school places. However I think it varies by council

Oh okay, not that the information really matters. My daughter has autism and her EHCP has failed to name a school because they can't find her one, I don't even think the school she's been allocated will be where she ends up going because she's already been knocked back from her 1st two choices because they can't meet her needs. I just want to know

The normal admissions process isn’t relevant if DD has an EHCP.

If no school was named in the EHCP have you appealed? Does it name a type? If no school is named in I I’m not sure what you mean by “I don't even think the school she's been allocated.”?

Unless it is wholly independent the LA must name your preferred school unless the LA can prove:
-The setting is unsuitable for the age, ability, aptitude or special educational needs (“SEN”) of the child or young person; or
-The attendance of the child or young person would be incompatible with the provision of efficient education for others; or
-The attendance of the child or young person would be incompatible with the efficient use of resources.
The bar for this is high, so why, exactly, has the LA refused?

Whattodo12345help · 15/04/2024 14:04

So basically her EHCP only
stated the nursery she currently attends. The first two schools I put down as choices have been consulted and come
back saying one was full and the other can't meet need. So if she gets either of those allocated I know she dosnt have a school place atm. Her third choice is being consulted at the moment.

at the moment my daughter dosnt have a school for September I know the LA allocation dosnt really apply I'm just interested to see where she's been allocated even though I know it dosnt really matter in her case

Being full is not enough of a reason to refuse to name your preference. The LA needs to prove the school is so full admitting DD is incompatible with the provision of efficient education for others or efficient use of resources. That is a higher bar than many LAs and schools admit. In what way can’t the second school meet DD’s needs? Saying that on its own isn’t enough either.

I'm just interested to see where she's been allocated

Because DD has an EHCP she shouldn’t have been allocated anywhere via the normal admissions process. Unless the EHCP has only be finalised very recently and the message hasn’t been passed on.

If you have a finalised EHCP you should appeal. When was the EHCP finalised? Make sure you don’t let the right of appeal lapse. Does it name a type of placement for September? Is it a new EHCP or an existing one - if this was an existing EHCP the placement for September should have been finalised by 15th Feb.

Reading IPSEA and SOSSEN’s websites would be a good idea so you understand the EHCP process better.

Whattodo12345help · 15/04/2024 14:23

Her EHCP was drafted on feb 19th and finalised on the 3rd of March she just missed admissions which is why i think I'm struggling with it all

If the EHCP was finalised on the 3rd March you must appeal soon. You only have a couple of weeks left in the appeal window.

It will vary by area. Warwickshire is usually around 8/8:30am for the email but can be on the portal earlier than that.

Does anyone know when Windsor and Maidenhead are being posted?
my day is honestly dragging haha
