Alternative dream career

If you didn't have to worry about security or other 'sensible' things.

I would have loved to learn and teach the Alexander Technique. It really resonates with me and I feel it very deeply. It isn't something that enters popular chat, but I think that I could have been in my element there.
Sadly it costs a fortune to study, due to there being a small pool of applicants, and often in places that are not easy to get to.

What would have been your dream career?

I forgot to mention that I make a living as a painter - some people's dream job, but familiarity can breed contempt, and the ups and downs are an arse Grin

I am a midwife, when I tell people what I do they quite often say 'I've always wanted to be a midwife!' Or 'that's my dream job'.

If I won the lottery I'd like to work in a quiet garden centre or the home section of M&S. I'd have staff discount for my fave shop and no real stress compared to what I do now. By that I mean no emergency buzzers, no resuscitating floppy babies, nobody bleeding to death. And I wouldn't have a bad back from bending over giving breastfeeding support all the time. Sounds so wonderful.

Ah there is something to be said for stress free!
I feel that, as an artist there is always some stress to consider, recent trends, sales going down, etc. It has been my entire life but i would give anything to have had a somewhat mundane career now. Helping people, something like that. I know art is essential and relevant but it isn't on the nose.
Then again, if i had a more hands on job it cold easily be even more stressful!

I want to work as an assistant at a veterinary practice - reassuring and looking after pets and their owners. Currently I work as Director in the NHS. I love my job but it's so stressful and long hours. Once I'm done helping humans I want to help animals. I want mundane, routine and a task based job that I can switch off from when at home

I'd love to be a professional genealogist. It's my hobby but, if I was in better health and if money wasn't a worry, I'd love to study it further and earn from it. I love the satisfaction from it as well as the surprises and shocks.

I retrained at 40 to be a nurse. In my 20s I worked in a bank but I used to dream of being a nurse.
