It's my Goddaughter's confirmation in a couple of weeks. She's 15. Any ideas for presents other than a necklace with a cross?

Money is the usual where I am (Ireland).

I got the complete works of Shakespeare - which is a nice thing to still have despite no longer being religious

I got a bible, and my grandmother have me an old copy of a book called 'The Fourth Wise Man'. I think she thought that because it was about a topic related to religion it was suitable. I don't remember her ever going to church - although she would have been brought up to go.

Money so she can buy exactly what she wants or jewellery. In my family the godparents usually give a piece of jewellery like a watch. DD got lovely bits for her communion that she wears all the time.

Jewellery, Bible, Christian devotional/prayer book, a print of her favourite Bible passage or one that will be read during the service.

My godparents clubbed together and got me a necklace that I still wear 20+ years ago. My godmother also took me shopping for accessories for my prom which was a really lovely experience. That might work if she is in year 11?

Cold hard cash

Stowickthevast · 15/04/2024 17:07

Interesting. I wasn't thinking of cash, but can see that would be nice! She's in Yr 10 and goes to an very traditional all girls school with 6th form so I don't think she'll have a prom. Maybe a leavers ball.

It's C of E rather than catholic so not rosary beads but will look on Etsy.
