Any ideas what these are for? The twine / string forms a 3D structure including a 'roof' as well as internal brackets?? I'm wondering if the roof is to protect from birds? And maybe a climbing crop hence the internal lines? Sorry the photos are rubbish I'm in a moving car!

Look out for hop kilns in the area - round buildings with a pointy roof shaped like a witch's hat. They're used for drying the hops after harvest.

Lol yes for hop growing

RytonTarget · 14/04/2024 16:44

Hops, for brewing.

So lovely to see a hop field. They have all but vanished from Kent and Sussex. I had a holiday job when I was 17/18 working on a local farm on a huge processing machine which took the bines in at one end and spat loose hops into bags at the other ready for drying. I smelled like a brewery at the end of the day Grin

Hops for sure. Used to get paid almost no money for hop picking when I was a young farmer. I couldn’t cope with the earwigs now.

Thank you!! I told DH you'd know Grin
