Has anyone found earplugs that actually block out snoring?

My DP snores (as do I occasionally). We often end up in different rooms, but we have a campervan and go away a lot. We can’t sleep separately then! The lack of sleep is beginning to affect the joy of the weekend away!

I currently have foam earplugs that say they block up to 37db. DP goes to sleep and starts snoring within seconds, and I can still hear it through these ear plugs.

I know all the other things like weight, etc. but right now I need some ear plugs if they exist!

Yep, they all.work if you stuff them up DP's nose. Maybe even two up each nostril. 💤💤

I use Dreamgirls pink ear plugs, snug fit.
They work well to drown out snoring.

You need the silent Loops and then a sleep headband on with white/brown noise in the ear pieces. Zero snore.

Silicone ones

Babymamaroon · 14/04/2024 16:51

Wax earplugs are the best I've found

JoanThursday · 14/04/2024 16:53

I use Macks silicon earplugs, and buy them from Amazon. They cover the opening of the ear canal rather than going inside it. They're best I've found, and silence (most of) the snoring!

Allmarbleslost · 14/04/2024 16:53

My loop quiet ones are very good!

Cheeesus · 14/04/2024 16:55

Yeah the mouldable ones. Does depend a bit on how loud the snoring is. I think there are sprays and strips the snorer can try too?

I've gone extensive research on this & have tried foam, silicone & wax. The only sort I haven't tried are the loop type ones (because I'm mean!)
In my experience the best are Quies wax ones but they don't block snoring completely I'm afraid. If I can drop off first they do the trick though.

Placemarking to try these recommendations. Desperate for uninterrupted sleep here.

Watching this as I'm having the same issue with my husband's snoring. I invested in Loop ones which are rubbish!

darkchocolatecoffee · 14/04/2024 17:01

I use the Loop Quiet ones too and it blocks out most of it, they’ve been a complete game changer and helps me to get a decent sleep

Sammysquiz · 14/04/2024 17:03

I love the Loop ones too. I thought they were rubbish at first try but then cycled through all the sizes (it comes with 4 pairs of different sized tips which go into your ears) and it was just a case of finding the perfect ones.

Yes I find getting a head start on falling asleep helps too. If I am asleep and have ear plugs in before he starts snoring, then I'm more likely to sleep through.

Tiredandsadtoday · 14/04/2024 17:03

I have an earphone headband which I play white noise through, as well as wearing ear plugs. There are plenty of 12& 24 hour white noise videos on YouTube. That drowns everything out.

DaveClifton · 14/04/2024 17:07

Bio Ears all the way for me - my DH is a proper hear-it-through-the-ceiling, chainsaw snorer and they are the only things that work for me. The vibrations can still be heard/sensed (Angry) but it's the next best thing to putting a pillow over his face. For a long time.

I have small ear canals so I split one in two and they fit perfectly.

NotMyFaultIndeed · 14/04/2024 17:09

Yes you need to go to sleep first, that's the only way

Loop also didn't work for me but the best ones I've found are the soft silicone ones but even then if he goes to sleep first it's carnage! Btw we also have a campervan and if we go to a campsite, I just take a small 2 man tent and sleep outside (I prefer it anyway). We tend not to stop by the roadside as I think I would be tempted to put the pillow over his head it's so loud!

HappiestSleeping · 14/04/2024 17:14

You need ear plugs and a ball pein hammer. When you go to bed, show both of them to your husband. Hold the ear plugs up and say "if these don't work....", then pick up the hammer and say "I'll use this".

Make sure you have your best steely Paddington Bear stare on as you do this.

You should have peaceful nights afterwards.

I have considered a tent! But we go all year round so think it might be too cold in January. But might take it for the next weekend in May.

Quiet loop ones are rubbish IME I returned them for a refund, was gutted.

Vermin · 14/04/2024 17:52

No but a strip of micropore tape to close a snorer’s mouth renders them a non- snorer. Not recommend for sleep apnea but otherwise improves oxygen intake and sleep for the (former) snorer and you. Win/win

Talkinpeace · 14/04/2024 17:54

Find one of the sleep playlists on spotify - my favourites are waves and cicadas
the random noise means neither of you focus on the snoring and thus go back to sleep quicker when snoring happens

Caswallonthefox · 14/04/2024 19:29

I've tried various ear plugs, but they have all caused me severe ear pain. I can't sleep with white noise etc. The last pair I tried, caused me to hear my own heart beat.
I now put a feather pillow over my ear (I'm a side sleeper), it doesn't get rid of the noise completely but it mutes it enough.
