New Bluey

There’s a 28min special of Bluey gone live this morning on Disney+ and omg it is everything! I think Bluey may have now overtaken Ben and Hollys Little Kingdom as my (and DD4) favourite show!

I sobbed, and then realised 6yo DD was sobbing too - first time she's been moved by TV like that.

The rare perfect episode of television.

BingoMarieHeeler · 14/04/2024 09:22

Aw yes I cried too and I only caught the last 10 mins! Bluey is the best.

Prinnny · 14/04/2024 09:25

I had a little tear when I saw chilli’s sister was pregnant after the onesies episode! It’s sooo good, sleepytime kills me every time! And the camping one too with big Bluey and the French guy!

@CelesteCunningham my 9 year old too! The DC always laugh at me for crying over everything (true) but this is the first time the 9 year old has actually joined me 😭😂

We were up at 7 to prep breakfast and count down till the 8am kick-off.

I just love Bluey😍

CelesteCunningham · 14/04/2024 09:26

I'd forgotten it was today. Tried to persuade them to wait for DH but they were having none of it so I guess we're watching it again tonight after bedtime Grin

This post is full of SPOILERS…

I totally just logged in to mumsnet to find someone else discussing this because no one I know in real life is so in to it 😂.

Honestly, I was kind of disappointed. I mean, it was a lovely episode, I enjoyed it, kids were transfixed. There were lots of super cute bits. But, they made this whole point about not knowing what’s next and making the most of uncertainty… and then wrapped everything up in a massive happy bow! The house move is off, Brandy is pregnant, Winston’s dad is happy, Frisky doesn’t have to move, Grandpa Bob is back. They totally destroyed their point about happy endings by giving everyone a happy ending!

itslunicorns · 14/04/2024 12:01

Of course I cried! Bingo's reaction - super cute. And all the references to previous episodes - music from dance off, chattermax, nanna flossing. Love love love.
But yeah, it's all about fate/luck and giving it a go and then... slightly disappointed (but vastly outweighed by the happy vibes)

LuckysDadsHat · 14/04/2024 13:34

Damn a cartoon dog for getting me in the feels! What has happened to me!

Pemberleyprobs · 14/04/2024 14:19

Absolutely loved it. It may have overtaken Jean Luc as the episode I’m most likely to sob at! So much better than I expected!

Prinnny · 14/04/2024 16:50

I thought there was of funny interlinking bits in it and I liked the whole family were involved!

Ah Jean Luc is the cutest but sleepytime kill’s me with ‘I have to go I’m a big girl now, remember I’m always here for you even if you can’t see me’ 😭😭 I’m still struggling with getting DD4 to sleep in her own bed so that one cuts me deep!

I saw him in 'person' yesterday. In Kew gardens. Seemed happy.

YenneferOfBattenberg · 14/04/2024 19:32

OMG I was in bits! Chilli's sister being pregnant is what set me off and then I couldn't stop.

I know what PPs mean about the happy ending vibe, but it wouldn't make ANY sense for the continuing cartoon (and I believe they've confirmed Season 4) for them to actually move IMO. Although I did believe it was going to happen until the very end.

And also they'd decided to move, but they were all miserable about it, and then in a last minute turn of fate the sale fell through... and things worked out "how they were meant to". On balance I liked the ending, it is - at its heart - a feel good cartoon after all...

Her.

ToastandJamandTea · 14/04/2024 19:37

Controversial opinion..... I think they are still moving. They only unpacked the rug to eat their chips on.
Aunt frisky might buy the house?

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 14/04/2024 19:39

We just all sat and watched it too after tea. It’s brilliant, like all of Bluey. There’s another new regular length episode too which we haven’t watched yet - ghost baskets

BroughttoyoubyBerocca · 14/04/2024 21:15

Perfect, fantastic tv, world class.

ZipZapZoom · 14/04/2024 21:19

I'm so pleased others feel the same it was amazing! Me DH and DS were all transfixed and it was a complete rollercoaster of emotions. Not helped by being in a very similar situation not too long ago with a house move that fell through but it all worked out for the best. Although if Chilli is anything like us she'll take an age to unpack all the boxes.

readingmakesmehappy · 14/04/2024 21:19

I didn't love it as much as I'd hoped. Lots of charming moments but it felt like the wedding and the house sale were two very different plots which had been forced together.

Except some other poor fucker in the conveyancing chain who just lost a house sale they probably actually did want 😂

Ghostbasket · 14/04/2024 21:26

I loved that the lucky penny was indeed lucky by the end.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 14/04/2024 21:26

My 4yo cried because the didn't move house and she was disappointed about that 🤣

AnxieTeapot · 14/04/2024 22:08

I cried so much, I think I struggled more with the idea of them moving house than Bluey did 🤣.

Flowerpotcat · 14/04/2024 23:03

I was disappointed there was the huge build up to the move, bluey and bingo were so upset...and then the house was saved at the last minute.

Life is not like that, sometimes children go through scary changes like moving house and starting school .... and they adapt and are okay, sometimes not.

It felt like a cop out for a show that usually has a great message at the core of each episode. Was the message here that if you are really scared of change, you might be lucky enough to be saved from experiencing change at the last minute?

This is exactly how I felt, like the message was 'off'. And like pp said, the poor fucker above them in the chain!

The programme's distinguishing feature is that it deals with 'real life' sensitively and shows that sometimes things don't work out as we planned and that's ok, making it stand out from other kids tv shows. This made it feel much less unique as everything was tied up in a bow.

puffinhoarder · 15/04/2024 04:43

Actually the focus on the move that never happened reminds me of the How I Met Your Mother finale, where you have all the build up to Barney and Robin's wedding only for them to immediately divorce.
