Good Morning All! What are you all doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa in my kitchen spot. No-one else is up yet so it's quite peaceful, even with the washer already washing today's load.

My hip's quite sore today, after walking miles around York yesterday, so I think it'll be a day of not much here. I have a rail to put up in the kitchen to hang my most used utensils on & have a gammon in the slow cooker to go on a roast. That'll probably be it for effort today.

I'll get both girls to make sure they've done all their homework - dd1 has left something to do tomorrow in her free at college, so she has something to do, but other than that I think they've done everything.

And my dad might come for a cuppa, he's bought me two tomato plants...I'm dreadful with plants 🙈.

Other than that, I'll probably craft my way through the day, maybe with dd2. Dd1 planned to finish bingeing Lucifer before back to college & she's not far off the end of s6 so will probably finish that.

Tonight's early ish showers all round then relax in front of more Lucifer for me, before an early night ready for school/college tomorrow.

What about all of you?🙂

Morning @lucysmam and all. Happy Sunday.
I'm the same with plants @lucysmam - thrilled I've managed to keep my window box plants alive for 2 weeks!
Was due to meet a friend for lunch but she is sick.
I'm going to head out for a walk once washing is finished but apart from that I've nothing planned which is just what I need.
Enjoy your day everyone.

dudsville · 14/04/2024 09:05

I've had coffee and breakfast and am dressed for the gym but so far can't stomach the thought of it.

I missed a call from my Dad yesterday. His wife is dying so we talk more than usual, but I didn't check in with him yesterday and he rang when we had company over so I didn't see it. I hate that so I'm waiting for his morning caring responsibilities to finish and then I'll check in with him.

I'd like to try to read. I'm thought of as a reader and it still feels like "me" but I don't choose it so much anymore.

Cesspit · 14/04/2024 09:07

I’ve a bit of diy to do on a spare bedroom

the nice jobs then.. new duvet and pictures to go up

steak & chips for dinner, kids will occupy themselves and I might try and find something on Netflix (wine)

Ratfinkstinkypink · 14/04/2024 09:12

We're off to see the bluebells and wild garlic. We are taking my little boy's new, very expensive buggy to give it a proper road test, his NHS one is ok on pavements but hopeless in the places he wants to be like the woods and the park. It makes me sad that, at the age of 3, he can't go to the woods so I have bought him an off road buggy at the cost of £3k. It makes me sad that the mainstream wheelchair/specialist buggy manufacturers that the NHS use can't come up with a chair that would really act as his legs.

ssd · 14/04/2024 09:13

Just had my tea and toast. It looks like it might be drier today, I'd love to get the beds changed.

CosmosQueen · 14/04/2024 09:14

Good morning @lucysmam et al,a beautiful sunny Sunday morning here.
So far I have loaded the dishwasher, walked the dog for an hour, sorted out what we’re having for dinner, DH is washing DD’s car and dd is upstairs working in my craft room.
I need to peel the potatoes and do the ironing but I’m sitting in the sun by the window with the dog 😍who would prefer me to let her have the whole chair

Good Morning All! What are you all doing today?
recklessgran · 14/04/2024 09:15

Morning! I'm at my desk on my third black coffee. I've aready sent a family round robin about a whole family weekend away on the Norfolk broads I'm planning late summer and an Afternoon Tea Party for DD1's birthday in a fortnight. We're a big family with 5DD's and partners etc so a lot to cater for and get dates not to clash with their various other commitments. This is the easiest way to keep everyone in the loop. We have various WhatsApp etc but I find e-mail best for these more important bits.
Later I'm going out to look at tablecloths/cake stands etc for the aforementioned afternoon tea. I have some but will need more. I'm good at catering so not worried about the food side of things.
Later I'm going to cook something around the Jersey Ryal potatoes I bought at the farm shop yesterday. Hellishly expensive but as it's such a short season I decided to indulge.
Otherwise a lot of pottering and faffing today. Will get some laundry on as the sun is shining so maybe I can dry stuff outside for a change.
This evening I'm going to try to crack on with my knitting.

SittingBackAndWatchingTheClowns · 14/04/2024 09:16

I've been having a coffee whilst watching 2 squirrels chase each other around the garden. My husband is still in bed. I've already had the washer on and pegged it all out. Later, we're meeting all the family at one AC's house, for lunch, so there'll be 8 adults and 6 kids. I'm looking forward to seeing them all.

Topsy44 · 14/04/2024 09:17

Morning All.

Just had my first cup of tea and putting off getting going for the day. Me and DD are going to see my elderly Mum today and that will take up most of the day.

Last day of 2 week break off for DD today so need to make sure she finishes off her homework at my Mums today (actually, she hasn’t started it yet!!) but at least my Mum can help with motivation for her to get it done.

I also had last week off work and back tomorrow, had a lovely week with DD doing the odd day trip and seeing friends but now feeling like ugh it’s work tomorrow and I need another week off to get all the household jobs done that I had promised myself I would do this week and didn’t.

Hope all have a lovely Sunday and all goes smoothly for those who have got DC going back tomorrow.

daffodilandtulip · 14/04/2024 09:19

I've just waited ages for crumpets to toast that I haven't popped down, so I think it'll be a slow day 😂

I've got my nail technician friend doing my nails at lunch time. It's my only treat of the month and the only time I really look after me so I really look forward to it. And the kids hide as well so it's lovely peace!

It's sunny here today so I will potter in the garden. New growth to tidy and a few broken things from the storm to fix.

Coursework to do that I had all Easter holidays to complete and haven't. And I've sold some bits so need to put all that in the car to drop off tomorrow.

Carbonara for tea. We ordered a lovely curry last night.

Kim82 · 14/04/2024 09:26

Good morning everyone. I’ve had a bit of a lie in today and have only just got up so I’m on the sofa with a cup of tea. Just me and dh awake at the moment, the girls are all still in bed.

I’ve plenty to do today as the house is an absolute disgusting pit of filth - not one room is even tidy, never mind clean so that all needs sorting today. I also have washing to do and need to iron dd9’s uniform. Dh will crack on with the back garden whilst it’s nice, he’s pulling up all the decking as it’s rotten so that’s a fun job for him.

I’ll need to break off from the cleaning to take dd9 to a swimming party this afternoon but that won’t take long as it’s just a drop and go and I’ll pick her up later.

Tea tonight is the jacket potatoes we were meant to have last night (we did end up out for tea last night) and then it’s homework, showers and early nights all round ready for back to school/college tomorrow.

gingercat02 · 14/04/2024 09:37

Just up, as we were out with friends last night, it was a late one. Fed the cat, having breakfast and off to PiYo for 10:30.

We have plans to paint the bathroom, but it is currently a beautiful sunny day, so we might sack that off for a walk instead.

DS is back to school tomorrow, which he's dreading as it's GCSE's in 4 weeks.

I have another week before I'm back to work as it's my birthday tomorrow, and I'm off to London for a conference Tuesday to Friday, which I'm really looking forward to, so a busy week ahead!

Hope it's sunny where you all are. The weather has been sooo bad for what seems like forever

Starship21 · 14/04/2024 09:45

Trying to get through the day until I can curl up in my pit and not have to talk to anyone!

cerisepanther73 · 14/04/2024 09:47

Feminist book club in Swansea Central BASEKAMP Centre there..

cerisepanther73 · 14/04/2024 09:48

So sort of hot footed across town waiting for upcoming train 🚆 now.

cerisepanther73 · 14/04/2024 09:49

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. This was at the very top of the thread list today. I look forward to it every weekend. We’re all still in bed. Refreshing change not to be woken by DD15 being incredibly loud on the phone to her GF. I made a cuppa for DH & myself. I’m drinking quite a lot of tea since quitting alcohol. Planning to clear the lounge later as it’s a general dumping ground! We bought a food processor & a toaster a couple of weeks ago & the boxes are still out, along with several carrier bags. One has some bits in it that I bought with a voucher at Next in January! DH & I are going to an out of town shopping centre this afternoon & I’ll hopefully spend the rest of the voucher. DH wants jeans & chinos. He has a voucher too. Tea will be what we were supposed to have yesterday - hoisin steak stir fry with sweet peppers, baby corn & courgettes plus fresh egg noodles. Ended up going to the chippy last night as I was tired from work.
recklessgran that’s early for Jersey Royals. I thought the season was June. Daffodilandtulip don’t damage your new nails in the garden!

Uncooperativefingers · 14/04/2024 09:54

Just back from a lovely walk with the dog, who made a new friend so is crashed out on my feet very pleased with himself now.

Bedding wash, tinkering in the garden and lunch with MIL on my list. Hoping to convince DH to get a curry for tea. It's a gorgeous sunny day, and warmer than yesterday despite the forecast saying a cold front would arrive overnight

mechanicalpencil · 14/04/2024 10:09

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone!
Just having breakfast in bed…more hot cross buns and tea. Then will be reading for a bit and doing my bullet journal. DH will be making lunch which we might have in the garden. I have some housework to do and then an afternoon of studying ahead.
Happy Sunday all!

Soccermumamir · 14/04/2024 10:09

Morning everyone 🙋‍♀️
@lucysmum Love York, but you do get your steps in lol 😆
Had mum round yesterday which was nice. Did a bit of shopping before everyone is back to school and work tomorrow after the Easter holidays.

Just had my 2nd cup of coffee and about to do a workout, before sprucing the house up. Sun is out here which is nice, still a bit chilly, but nice to get windows open and some fresh air in 🙂
Have a nice Sunday everyone 😊

RJnomore1 · 14/04/2024 10:10

Morning! I’m lying in bed binge watching little reindeer on Netflix - very good but darker than expected. I’ll need to get up to eat soon though.

Most of the day will be uni work after that. Dd2 is away to her part time job and DH was at the pub after going to football yesterday and came home very merry and singing so I think he will be having a slow one.

I like a Sunday 😁

TheChosenTwo · 14/04/2024 10:10

Changed my bedding, ds is doing his.
dd1 is still in bed, dd2 is at work, dh is fixing the bin unit which broke last night after someone leaned on it and something snapped (one too many beers!)
He’s also preparing lunch as his mum and stepdad are coming.
Then this afternoon we’ve got a walk planned with lots of extended family followed by a cake stop.
Then home for something light for dinner for those that want it, early nights all round as this last week of the Easter holidays has been quite crazy with lots of late nights. Ds will be back to 6:30 wake ups and he will not like it one bit!

Starship21 · 14/04/2024 10:10

lucysmam · 14/04/2024 09:51

Hope you're ok @Starship21 💐

Thank you, hopefully things will get better but depression really does suck!!

Beansandneedles · 14/04/2024 10:16

Morning all!! Everyone is out this morning so I've had the kind of start to the day that I used to look upon unfavourably but now I cherish. I've hung a load out on the line in the sun, unpacked from our trip we returned from yesterday, tidied the kitchen and all the bedrooms. Basically done the sorts of things that need doing when you have a family but today I feel grateful that these chores exist because my life is so full. It's a nice feeling to find the silver lining of chores. Now sat in my favourite sunny spot with a coffee and my book for an hour. Later I've got some gardening on my list and planning a roast lunch. Yum!!
