Quiet restaurant in Manchester?!

Bit of an ask- for a group of (older) friends who want a chat without loud music - in central Manchester.
Any recommendations?

What type of cuisine, or anything to rule out?

Allfurcoatandnoknickers · 13/04/2024 10:17

We like Tapas and Greek food?

The Molly House on Canal St do lovely tapas and wine and whenever I've been it's beeen a pleasant, not too loud, atmosphere www.themollyhouse.com/tapas/

Evuna in the Northern Quarter is lovely for tapas.

So is el gato negro, but it's definitely on the pricier end depending on your budget.

Canto in ancoats is also great- Portuguese tapas.

I find evuna really loud.

Kala bistro on king street is lovely OP

Thanks- would say ££ budget too not ££££ 👍 with quieter being the main thing!

Another vote here for Kala bistro. Lovely food.

To be fair, I've tended to go to Evuna in the afternoon, so that could have an impact!

HairyFarnbarn · 13/04/2024 12:01

I have asked for a quiet table at the hawksmoor before and they were very accommodating with the request

you could always call up and ask if they play loud music. Whatever you do avoid higher ground it’s like a nightclub in there, good food but awful experience

From an 'older person' myself I vote for TNQ in the Northern Quarter.

SausageRoll2020 · 13/04/2024 13:52

Another vote for Kala, it's modern British not tapas but would suit your atmosphere requirements and the food is excellent 😋

HollyGolightly4 · 13/04/2024 18:04

@HairyFarnbarn really? So not worth going? Was contemplating booking for wedding anniversary.

HairyFarnbarn · 13/04/2024 18:16

@HollyGolightly4 The food is great but that’s at the expense of being able to speak to your companions 😂

PurpleWhirple · 13/04/2024 18:44

I loved higher ground. I don't remember the music at all but the food was amazing
