I’m looking for some ideas. What are your favourite nibbles?

Pre dinner nibbles? Or on their own nibbles? Can’t go wrong with big batch cocktail sausages with honey and mustard glaze - hot or cold 👍

I am also unashamedly old school and love cheese and pineapple on a stick 🤣🤣

Prebpught or made mini bikinis with full fat cream cheese and sweet chilli sauce

Wedges of cucumber with smoked salmon I've cut small and marinated in lemon juice for 24 hrs with a bit of dill on top

If less fancy, packet of posh crisps and dips, if I can be bothered I blend my own

  1. Baked aubergine plus harissa and tomato paste
2.white beans with garlic and lemon 3.cottage cheese with tons of herbs from my garden and a strong canned fish

Cheese in some form could def work then? Maybe just an easy cheeseboard with some nuts and fruit?

box of chocs and coffee to signify “times up”!!

Why do you need post dinner nibbles? Won't people have eaten enough at dinner? Confused

It’s a good question and why I don’t want to go overboard.
People are eating before they come over in the evening, so it’s really truly just a polite nibble

In which case I'd offer crisps, olives and some cheese and crackers.

Maddy70 · 13/04/2024 08:02

Cheese and crackers

tastydiner · 13/04/2024 08:04

Big cheese board with lots of crackers, biscuits, fruits and chutneys and may be some small individual chocolates. Or, some canapé type bit sized foods that puts you in the kitchen with oven timings though.

FusionChefGeoff · 13/04/2024 08:04

Making your own tortilla chips is always impressive but very easy - brush wraps with oil, sprinkle on salt and can experiment with herbs / spices too. Cut into triangles with scissors then bake in a really hot oven for 3-4 minutes.

@wafflesmgee - the autocorrect 😂

pinkpale · 13/04/2024 08:04

I'd do an interesting cheeseboard.

crockofshite · 13/04/2024 08:05

Cake?

PiggieWig · 13/04/2024 08:06

I usually do a cheeseboard, put some meat on there, olives, nuts etc.

I hate the word nibbles. Drinks and nibbles especially. Is it going to be a selection of hors d'oeuvre type things to soak up alcohol or a bowl of crisps.

I've been on the receiving end of both.

TunaCrunchy · 13/04/2024 08:07

Cheese and biscuits, olives, cold meat, box of chocolates.

AdaColeman · 13/04/2024 08:20

After dinner drinks & nibbles, I'd offer olives, caper berries, selection of nuts & raisins, stuffed dates, cubed cheese with celery salt, small cheese biscuits, chocolates, possibly some small cakes such as baklava.

Janetime · 13/04/2024 08:33

Oh ok so you’re not serving dinner it’s just drinks for folks coming over in the evening and you want to put out some nibbles

depends how posh you wish to be, for close friends I do crisps, dips, nuts (but nice ones like walnuts) and olives.

if it was less close, I’d do that and then a cheese board later, with lots of nice cheese, great biscuits, relish, nuts, grapes etc.

NetZeroZealot · 13/04/2024 08:38

Olives, pistachio nuts or smoked almonds, posh crisps.

Bearpawk · 13/04/2024 09:45

Post dinner I'd do a cheese board and cover some dried figs or dates in dark chocolate and sea salt

reluctantbrit · 13/04/2024 09:47

Cheeseboard
Crisps
Nuts
