When I was growing up going to the cinema was a massive treat and a rare event. I particularly remember Herbie goes to Monte Carlo and Grease and not much else.

Labyrinth (lifelong crush on Bowie ever since)

The Delinquents.
Look Who’s Talking.
Turner and Hooch.

I saw those as a teenager with friends the first few times I went to the cinema without parents.

I also remember hiding in the toilets in The Witches. Angelica Houston was scary!

Itsabusytwoweeks · 12/04/2024 23:45

As a very teeny kid-Star wars and E.T
Later on-Look who’s talking, The hand that rocks the cradle
Pulp fiction

Cinemas were so exciting when young-I miss going for a proper film and not a kids one for my Dd

High school musical 3! Think I was about 14, loved it 🤣 and still do at 27

Turmerictolly · 12/04/2024 23:46

My first was a double feature: Sinbad and the eye of the tiger and walkabout. I remember seeing Grease and Escape to Witch mountain (which I loved), Freaky Friday and a red riding hood film that was strange - can't remember the name of it now. Herbie films too.

First film I saw without parents was Ghostbusters in the local flea pit

Highlight of the cinema and made local news for ages was the changing of the letters for films from Duck tales to Fuck tales 😂

We also went on a Sunday school trip to watch a film about the crucifixion which was far more disturbing than ghostbusters or watership down 😂

Stichintime · 13/04/2024 00:18

We never went to the movies, but we did go and see a film or two.

DreamTheMoors · 13/04/2024 00:24

Sound of Music was my first.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with my friends in high school.
We saw The Sterile Cuckoo with Liza Minnelli and I didn’t understand a single thing about it.

Leeds2 · 13/04/2024 00:29
