I started a book a couple of years ago, didn't finish it and want to go back to it..but I can't remember what it was called!!
It was about a wealthy young woman in expat community like Singapore or something, lived with her motjer, I remember they had cocktails quite a lot, she quickly got engaged to an American (sailor I think) but I think he wasn't all he seemed. I remember them going for a ride in his car.
Sorry I just have these little snippets of a story and its driving me bananas!!
