Why do you want to meet them/interact with them? They’re just people like the rest of us

Why are you keen to meet a celebrity?

I was friends with a minor celebrity, but we were friends before he was (moderately) famous.

I'm friends with the drummer from a very famous band. I knew him before he joined the band.

SallyWD · 11/04/2024 20:12

I'm also curious as to why you want to work with celebs?

GameOfJones · 11/04/2024 20:16

My friend from school works with lots of celebrities so comes into contact with various famous people. She works for a London PR agency and is pretty senior. But that doesn't mean she's their friend, it's a professional relationship.

I imagine most people that are friends with celebs knew them before they were famous?

You sound very shallow if you just want to be mates with someone because they are famous.

I’m friends with quite a few - met via the Pony Club!!

Yes, a few other mums at school, also the father of a good friend of mine. It just happens. I think you're unlikely to make friends with a celeb in any situation in which you are approaching them as a celeb, if you see what I mean, which means setting out to be friends with a celeb is a waste of time. They are just people.

This. I already knew someone and then I met everyone else.

But most many celebrities are pretty self-obsessed, weird or boring. Honestly. There have only been a couple I can say were really lovely. And more that were utter dickheads.

But if you want to meet some, get a crap job with a high end place or product. Landrover, the Ivy, Selfridges, that kind of thing. Not worth it if you ask me.

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/04/2024 20:28

And it's worth saying that the one I made better friends with, he is really very famous but I had no clue who he was. That 'no clue' is probably the reason we got in.

My sisters best friend is a celebrity. They’ve been friends since primary school so I’ve known her since she was about 6.

School parents, neighbours and the gym.
