I know I'm at least 2 years late to the party but... if you bought one at the height of their popularity do you still use it? What do you cook in it? Shall I get one? Don't want to make another mistake like my spriralizer, no I never made courgetti spaghetti.

I’m on my fourth one, third one went to Uni with DD.
Use it for freezer foods like chips, nuggets etc. Fresh meat.
Used multiple times a week.

fisherking1 · 11/04/2024 16:39

I wouldn't be without my dual Ninja. I only use my oven for roast potatoes now.

Peacelily001 · 11/04/2024 16:39

Mine is about 18 months old (I got a Ninja 9 in 1 multi cooker)
I use it every day, it’s brilliant!
I think I’ve used my actual oven about 5 times since I bought the Ninja.

GasPanic · 11/04/2024 16:40

Yes I use it.

Think of it like a mini oven. Anything you can cook in the oven you can cook in the air fryer.

In addition anything that you would normally fry or grill you can cook in the air fryer. So burgers, sausages, bacon etc.

What it is not so good for is wet stuff like stews, curries and casseroles, although you could probably cook them as well.

Enjoy.

I was also late to the party, I bloody love it!!

Toddlerteaplease · 11/04/2024 16:40

Only thing I use my oven for is pizza

fisherking1 · 11/04/2024 16:41

I cut my pizzas up and put those in. If I make a fish pie etc I do use the oven.

diggermama · 11/04/2024 16:42

Do it! You won't regret it. I have 2! Wouldn't be without them. We cook everything in them, even a roast dinner. So handy for me to get the kids dinner cooked. I'm about to put some falafel in mine for my toddler. 6 minutes and done! It would take longer to get the oven warmed up. We had a new kitchen installed last year and I begrudgingly agreed to a small oven, it's the most expensive clock I've ever bought

imtoooldforthisshite · 11/04/2024 16:42

Thankyou everyone, can you cook things like chicken portions etc from frozen?

Yes we use our dual ninja 3 / 4 times a week minimum.
I was cautious too thinking it would be waste but have honestly used it so much

Yes! It’s great for cooking from frozen.
I can do all sorts in mine as it has a pressure cooker, grill, sauté etc as well as the air fryer.

Timeforabiscuit · 11/04/2024 16:45

Yes, daily use here too! Biggest surprise success was cooking sirloin steak in it🤤

Neolara · 11/04/2024 16:47

We use it most days. Mostly we roast vegetables in it. It takes 20 mins instead of an hour. We love our air fryer.

amindatwork · 11/04/2024 16:51

It's the only kitchen item other than coffee machine that we use multiple times daily. More than kettle or toaster.

On holiday this week and so irritated at how long it takes using a regular oven. At home it's barely ever used now. Only for batch cooking lasagne and sometimes pizza - but now tend to cut up and do in the air fryer too. Can do a full roast dinner in ours.

We got a cheap one 'entry level' one - to see if we would use it - that lasted about a year as we absolutely hammered it and handle came loose. Invested in a dual drawer ninja and wouldn't be without it. I would recommend getting liners from day 1 to keep it in good condition as the heat bakes on the grease.

I would liken it to the level of game changer that the microwave was. It's no spiraliser!

Didsomeonesaydogs · 11/04/2024 16:56

Had a ninja since December 21. It’s been so long since I used my oven I’m not even sure it still works. I only use the oven for the occasional pizza and Christmas dinner. DD bought an identical ninja for her uni house off Facebook marketplace. We’re true converts!

DeanElderberry · 11/04/2024 16:56

Gosh yes. Cheapest entry-level one, used yesterday for marinaded pork with cherry tomatoes and button mushrooms, currently cooking an aubergine for Baba ganoush. I use it at least four times a week, often more than that. It doesn't actually fry things, it's a tiny, very efficient oven.

Karatema · 11/04/2024 16:57

Late to the party too. I'm just beginning to learn how to use all the functions because I have a Ninja and it doesn't just air fry! The but I use the most us steam/airfry; cuts the time, to cook, hugely.

newnamethanks · 11/04/2024 17:00

Thought about retiring my horrible ancient cooked but didn't fancy the cost of replacement. Air fryer, toaster and microwave. Not buying a cooker, these do everything I need.

Oh how long and temp please

Ilikewinter · 11/04/2024 17:21

I was also late to the party and was bought a cheapy one just to try it.my biggest regret is not just going all in on a dual ninja 🙃... now I can justify having 2 !!

JassyRadlett · 11/04/2024 17:23

I took mine on holiday with me. That's how much it enhances my life.

muddyford · 11/04/2024 17:57

Bought an entry level one about ten days ago. Using it every few days, probably about the same as I would have used my oven.

Timeforabiscuit · 11/04/2024 18:25

MrsClatterbuck · 11/04/2024 17:03

Rest steaks out of the fridge for 20 mins or so, Season with salt and pepper then Air Fry at 200 for 4 mins, then flip over for another 4 mins and rest.

This is slightly shorter than the book says for a medium, but the steaks were a bit less than an inch thick.

Fannyfiggs · 11/04/2024 18:30

I'm not even at the party let alone late to it.

I've been looking to get one for ages now but cos I'm veggie I don't know what I could cook in it apart from veggie sausages, burgers etc.
