Can't believe what I've just seen-there really should be a test before you can own a dog!

I'm just back from walking my own dog. Residential area, busy time of day with lots of kids on bikes, cars, buses etc.

An absolute idiot is on a bike, in the centre of the road, holding the leads of 2 large powerful dogs in his left hand and they're running full pelt, pulling him along behind them.

If they'd decided they'd wanted to come over and sniff my dog it would have been carnage at the speed they were going. The dogs were I full control.

I walked though the local park last week-on the opposite side could see two women walking their dogs off lead in the distance. One of the dogs was ignoring it's owner's call to heel. About a minute later, I heard a piercing scream- turned to look and one of the dogs had bitten women one on the arm and she was screaming at it to get off. The dog released it's jaw, and then chased after the other dog with woman 2 running after them and yelling at him to stop. Both dogs stopped and separated.

Then, a few seconds later, women one let the bitey dog off the lead again and seemed shocked that it tried to attack dog two again. Then I heard woman two shout to woman one that she couldn't believe the same thing had happened again this week!

You can't fix stupid and there seems to be a lot of stupid people around these days unfortunately

There's twats everywhere. Not much that can be done about it.

In many countries you have to pay additional taxes to own pets.

i often think that this would be a good idea and through it would create more responsible owners.

I'm not sure it would. A large proportion of the idiot dog owners have very expensive dogs. I dont think making them pay more money will make them any more responsible.

At least they will be registered and insured making people more accountable.

I always feel so sorry for dogs being run by people on bikes. They have little option but to keep carrying on even if they are exhausted or have pain. Add in hot weather an I am raging about this.

He will get a Darwin award soon, just hope no one else dies in the process.

I'm not sure how the best solution to ensure good dog ownership looks. I know this has been discussed on other threads, particularly around a license or insurance programme of some kind. I do believe a crack down on back yard breeders would help.

With regards to the idiot you saw @Thehalls191 I just hope that neither those poor dogs nor any innocent passers-by are injured
