Can't believe how much cleaner my house feel (after this one simple hack! 🤣🤣)

Sorry for the title! 🤣

I replaced my hoover filters today and the difference has been amazing - it's like having a new hoover again! It's even back to leaving lines on the carpet!

There's so much dust and cat hair that's lifted from the carpet I'm honestly disgusted by how yucky it was. And it feels so much fresher and cleaner - it's weird but there's a noticeable difference in the air. My sister actually came in and asked what I'd done!

So go replace or clean your hoover filters!

Add in a vaccum air freshener for added fantasticness.. Ime.

Clean the roller brush for an even bigger wow!

BeretRaspberry · 10/04/2024 16:41

I have 2 sets and rotate them, this means the second set can be washed and dried without having to rush to put it back in.

I also clean the roller thing and the dust cup periodically, as well as the fluffy thing at the front (it’s a Shark). You can definitely tell the difference when it’s first done but because I do it relatively regularly it’s always quite good anyway.

Mummame2222 · 10/04/2024 16:41

I did that. Lasted a week 😂

I did that too! Even scrubbed it with some hot water and fairy! 😁

I think I'll buy another set of filters and rotate them - I honestly can't believe how much difference it's made. I hoover every other day usually but it obviously hasn't been working properly!

Mine's a shark too, though I have no idea of the model 🤣

I washed the bit where the crap goes too - I think that made a difference too!

Has it never ‘asked’ you to do that before? I have lived in a succession of renovation jobs (pause to say NEVER AGAIN) and mine always stops working and flashes lights at me until i change it. Filter always full of grey plaster dust. Bought a five pack of filters from Amazon in the end.

PotatoPudding · 10/04/2024 16:52

I replace mine every year.

QuestionableMouse · 10/04/2024 16:53

It doesn't have warning lights or anything - it's an older model and "dumb"! 🤣😁

Whether you need to or not

It always needs it. It makes a much bigger difference than just cleaning the filter.

We have a Screwfix wet and dry hoover with super cheap single use filter bags specifically for all the DIY dust. Plaster dust will fuck up your Dyson filters in no time!!

BreakfastAtMimis · 10/04/2024 19:22

Didn't even know it had filters! Grin

QuestionableMouse · 10/04/2024 19:55

Honestly it wasn't something I'd given any great thought! 😁🤣

I have a shark pet,it's 5 years old. I have 3 sets of filters. Wash and change them monthly. The washing machine detergent, and then fabric conditioner, stops the house smelling of dog. Hand held Dyson, filter washed regularly. Am itching to say, neither of those manufacturers make Hoovers, but they hate that on here! A friend was complaining about her dishwasher, asked about the filter, nope she's never cleaned it out.

We kept an old filter just for DH DIY jobs. I also have 2 sets, but probably don't wash them enough.

Ours is an older model and doesn't have anything on it to ask you to change it.

Do Henry hoovers have a filter? Is it that bit that sits on tip of the bag when you change the bag? 🤔 I need a simple hack to transform my house! Mayve if I have hoover lines in the carpet I won't notice the kids toys all over the place or the 14 unread pieces of mail on the dining table... 😬
