Has anyone had new windows fitted recently?

We really need new windows fitted before next winter, has anyone had them done recently that can give us an idea of cost/how long they took to put them in/how much mess or damage there was?

We need 11 windows, front door and rear French patio doors.

Trying to figure out if we are better to arrange it for when we are away on holiday?

Currently having this done. First had the firm round to measure up in February, work being done this week. 9 windows, 2 doors. Cost is £5.5k, two days work. Local firm, not one of the large national brands.

Thanks that sounds like a good price I am hoping we can do it for under 10k but worried I am totally dreaming! We plan on looking at local companies in the hope of getting a slightly better price.

I'm in a south east home county. 7 windows, three sets of external doors (one composite front door with glass panel) with basic white upvc has cost us £13k. We have a 60s house and the windows are huge. Took about 4 days all in to do everything. Not particularly messy, the fitters cleaned up inside and tried to tidy the outside (which took the brunt of it). We had the original rotten wooden frames removed and I'm still finding small bits of glass and flakes of paint outside.

Very rural SW Scotland. Cottage, so not big windows. In my experience of doing similar at home, it's the composite doors which push the price up considerably.
