80’s or 90’s children’s TV show

I have been trying to find the name of this children’s TV show:
On at lunchtimes during the week of BBC2.
It was an educational show that went back in time to different historical periods.

It was presented by a woman who used to always been underground(large mounds of earth behind her and in an underground tunnel). There was a large drill that would be used to “drill” through to this historical period.

Does anyone else remember this? No one I have asked seems to have a clue! Was this just a weird reoccurring dream??

Did it once feature Louis Braille? The concept sounds familiar

Although I’m sure that was one we had to watch in school, when we all had to sit on the assembly hall floor and the big tv on wheels came out lol!

Thank you. I’ve had a quick look but cannot see the presenter woman. She used to be there when the “drilling” started and would introduce the historical period of the week.
