Not in Japan but in other countries. Try Airalo. Found it very good

I used Airalo in Japan and lots of other countries with no issues.

Just wanted to report back that the eSIM worked well but unfortunately the phone was stolen last night along with DD's purse!

Stolen from a nightclub in Tokyo and last pinged at a nursing home in Kawasaki.

Not a great first night 🙈
