Ds13 has come out in a rash torso back legs and arms not itchy no other symptoms other then he says he can’t feel his shoulder and it’s tingling….I've given him prirton but should I be more concerned? Rash image attached off his arm but same all over his body other than face. I think it’s a wait and see how he is the morning job but second guessing myself.

I’d call 111 for advice

porridgecake · 09/04/2024 22:00

Phone 111. They can arrange for you to be seen quickly.

If no fever, stiff neck, signs of anaphylaxis etc then I'd go with a pharmacist rather than a GP and definitely not A&E

It doesn't look like a rash I'd be worried about. I'd want to explore more about what he means by not being able to feel his shoulder though.

Sunshineclouds11 · 09/04/2024 22:04

I'd ring 111 also.

Not being able to feel his shoulder would be my concern over the rash I think

katystar · 09/04/2024 22:06

The shoulder thing is my main worry just strange that he has a rash as well. I’m going to give the anti histamine an hour and see how he is. I’ve sent an image to a pharmacist (my boss) and told him the symptoms so will see if he has any clues.

Plasticbaghoarder · 09/04/2024 22:07

The antihistamines should work within 20 minutes if they're having no effect and the rash is worsening or his symptoms are changing id go to a&e otherwise call 111 for advice.

CJ0374 · 09/04/2024 22:07

Is he fully vaccinated? Measles is prolific currently, but less likely if vaccinated. The shoulder is a worry- was he sleeping on it, injured it, fell on it etc?

nevertrustanyoneagain · 09/04/2024 22:08

I am not a doctor.
Does he have a temp? Looks like viral rashes my kids had. I would be more concerned about the numb shoulder. Is it nearer neck(more worrying) or nearer top of arm? You know your child. Go with your gut.

MillyMollyMandy01 · 09/04/2024 22:09

Do the glass test, roll a clear drinking glass over the site of the rash & see if it disappears momentarily under the pressure. If it doesn’t, go to A&E.

katystar · 09/04/2024 22:13

No temp not been unwell all jabs are up to date. I’m going to get a glass and test the rash. Rash is very much a viral looking one.

he was full of cold from September to end of February but has been fine the last few weeks.
no injury that he can think off.

I'd go to A&E - my son had what turned out to be a bad viral infection (looked like your photo) and was also treated for Sepsis as was presenting like that too ( (only viral once tests back). The shoulder numbness is very worrying. Not worth waiting - I mentioned I was worried about Sepsis when at A&E reception. NHS website Sepsis page says if rash and doesn't blanch got to A&E.

May09Bump · 09/04/2024 22:20

Has he been swimming in sea or lakes? As that's where the consultant think he picked up a virus.

katystar · 09/04/2024 22:24

the numbness is near the the neck/tip of the shoulder. He has no pain.

OP posts:
katystar · 09/04/2024 22:25

No swimming at all I’m going to call 111 as im
concerned about the lack of feeling.

111

Applesandpears23 · 09/04/2024 22:28

Does movement/massage help with the shoulder? Ie is it muscular?

scaredofff · 09/04/2024 22:28

I think I would 111 too just to be sure. You'll not test for worrying otherwise

katystar · 09/04/2024 23:53

Waiting for a call back from 111 DS is asleep with no changes.

No call back on hold for the gp…shoulder tingling numbness has gone but still covered in the rash

OP posts:
Glitterbiscuits · 11/04/2024 10:04

@katystar How are things now? Did you get to the bottom of the numbness?

katystar · 11/04/2024 11:33

Rash is flaring up and down gp won’t see him but he also has bright red cheeks now so think it maybe slapped cheek. No more mention of the numbness so hopefully that was a strange coincidence. He’s going to PGL tomorrow so debating if I can send him.
