Please help work out what this awful illness is!

I've been ill for weeks and weeks. Sometimes I'll feel a bit better for a couple of days then I crash again.

I'm dizzy, nauseous, pressure in face (but no pain) and my eyelids keep swelling up.

It's so awful and I don't know if it's hayfever (does this make you feel dizzy and sick?) or some kind of awful virus. It started in late December so seems too early, even for tree pollen.

Absolutely at my wits end now 😭

What does your doctor think it is?

aibutohavethisusername · 09/04/2024 21:02

Labrinthitis
pregnancy

@Shetlands

Doctor said it wasn't a sinus infection as I didn't have a temperature and that was it.

That's why I'm asking on here.

I wondered about labrynthitis but I don't think that would cause swollen eyes? Also, no hearing loss (although tinnitus is worse).

Def not pregnant. Menopausal and single!

Have you tried different antihistamines?

In that case I would ask for some further tests eg blood tests. You shouldn't have to put up with being dizzy and nauseous, besides it being dodgy to drive I would imagine.

I’m not sure about the swollen eyes but when I had labrynitis it lasted for weeks.

mynameiscalypso · 09/04/2024 21:44

Does it stem from the eyes? I've had a lot of eye inflammation recently including incredibly blocked tear ducts which has caused a lot of headaches, infections, congestion and sinus pain. Might be worth seeing an optician?

Norugratsatall · 09/04/2024 22:49

Have you had Covid op? Only asking as those symptoms can be common post covid. Especially the face pressure dizziness and tinnitus. I really hope you feel better soon.

AllTheMiniEggs · 10/04/2024 06:43

Thanks for all the responses.

I don't think I've had Covid. I did test while I was feeling really bad and it was negative. I've had Covid a few time and always had an annoying cough but haven't had that.

It seems to start with my eyes swelling up (above them, not below) then I start feeling dizzy and nauseous for weeks.

Changing my antihistamine is a good shout. I'll go to the chemist today.

I just don't think it can be hayfever if it started in December? Maybe I need allergy testing for something else.

Bloody pressure was checked when I went to the doctor and it was fine so not that. It's a mystery and a bloody miserable one! The crushing fatigue doesn't help either.
