I saw the absolute best of humanity today

My lovely niece has quite complex special needs. She's old enough now for me to take her out for the day on my own, something I've never been able to do before. I was a little apprehensive about it-her behaviour can be difficult to manage at times.

Anyway, off we went to a local farm/petting zoo type of place.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how absolutely wonderful everyone was. The staff, the other visitors. They were all so kind, patient and understanding. So many people took the time to try and understand her and engage with her. I came away feeling like I wanted to cry happy tears.

I just wanted to throw a Thank-you out to the universe. It meant the world and its given me the confidence to take her on many more little adventures.

How absolutely lovely OP, I'm so pleased for you both.

It's sad that we are constantly bombarded with negativity we forget that actually most people are nice and good things do happen.

People are pretty great on the whole, but this often gets overshadowed by the idiots.

Absolutely!! I was ready for people to be judgemental. I thought people might assume I'm her mum and judge me for not knowing how to look after her/manage her behaviour, I couldn't have been more wrong.

There are some wonderful people out there and I know a lot of the parents there today would have been feeling frazzled-it was very busy, the weather was atrocious but everyone we encountered were kind.

The staff were amazing, it started with the chap directing the parking, set the tone for the whole day.

That is so lovely and it will give you the confidence to have more outings with her that you both enjoy.
I was struggling the other days with shopping bags as going from one supermarket to another and this woman stopped in her car and asked could she give me a lift anywhere. It nearly made me cry, and it happened before. Made me realize that there are still kind people out there. Need to invest in one of those pull along trolleys before my shoulder is broke.
