I hit a parked car

In tears currently because I just reversed into a parked car (a good condition one).

Left details under windscreen wiper. Just having a complete cry as it hasn't happened to me before.

As long as you are insured, and left your details - then calm down - accidents happen and you did the right thing afterwards.

Call your insurance now to let them know what happened, and give them the registration of the car (incase your note goes missing).

These things happen, crying isn't going to make the situation better. But I understand it was a shock.

Oh bless you. You are probably in shock. Accidents happen, and I’m sure you didn’t mean to do it. You left your details so you have done the right thing. Hopefully there wasn’t too much damage and it can be sorted quickly. Have a cuppa and a good cry.

What happens from now?
How much will insurance typically go up?

Did you take pictures of the damage you caused? Don't want anyone claiming for anything additional

ParsonsPont · 09/04/2024 14:24

Oh it happens. That’s why accidents are called accidents!

Was there damage?

tollu · 09/04/2024 14:24

@MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira nope! Sad

For what it is worth, over the course of my driving and insurance time I have had two cars written off - in neither case did my insurance rise by more than £100 a year.

tollu · 09/04/2024 14:39

@InferiorDesign reassuring. Is that for instances you were at fault?

One of each.
