Pork steaks - would you eat?

We had some on the 6th. Just took the rest out of the fridge and put under the grill, only to notice the date on the pack saying use by 5th. I bought them on the 5th. So that's annoying.

I have nothing else that I can cook (frozen meat but too late for that now.

Theyre the flavoured sort, maple bbq. Look and smell ok but.... 3 days pasture by. Been in the fridge.

I only just spotted the date as I put the packaging in the bin.

Definitely not.

They will look and smell ok as they have been marinaded, which is what people used to do back in the day to disguise meat going past its best.

If in doubt, don't eat.

Yes, if they smell ok then I'd happily eat them. You're cooking them thoroughly after all, as you don't eat them rare.

Argh. I bloody hate waste. Scrambled eggs then. I can't be doing with 2 x dc vomiting.

I'd eat them if they smell ok

purplecorkheart · 08/04/2024 18:30

Probably not as. Normally when you open packs like that you have to use it up 24/48 hrs max. Might take chance for myself but not for kids.

CuriositysCat · 08/04/2024 18:31

No way!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 08/04/2024 18:55

I didn't. I'm usually fairly lax about this stuff, and probably would have done if it was just me.
