On a budget, safe places to live UK

We are currently renting and live in East Sussex. It's absolutely horrendous to find rental properties and prices are through the roof. We want to buy our own home now and can live anywhere in the UK, the trouble is we can only afford £220k so it narrows it down a bit. We need at least 3 beds, garden and preferably off road parking. We are looking at Lincolnshire as it's cheaper. We live in a back end small town now, so we don't mind villages. We would need to be able to travel to Brighton 3 times a year for work. We just want somewhere that is safe to grow old in. We drive, but would prefer to be within a short distance to hospitals and train stations. We don't do nightlife or walks, but we like to have a look around country houses, garden centres and local shops etc.

The most important thing is low crime rate as we don't want to move again and we're getting old. We're open to anywhere that's safe and affordable. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Thank you
