A really old friend of mine from Uni moved abroad for about a decade and we stayed in touch, and I think both assumed we were still great friends but it all fell apart when he moved back to UK. I think he thought we would hang out loads but as a working/ studying single parent I tend to see friends much less frequently than I think he imagined. I often said I couldn't meet because I had an assignment etc. If I'm honest I found it tricky to connect and we have both probably changed over the years. I maybe should have broached that, but hard to tell someone you're finding their behaviour a little annoying - I'm not great at talking about feelings and he isn't either. I think I was hoping with time it would fall into a new rhythm.
To cut a long story short I think he got fed up on my lack of availability (intimated this to another friend) and I tried to meet up with him multiple times and in the end he said he was busy for next few months - massive brush off. We'd been friends for 25 years and shared some really special things when much younger. Feels sad and not sure what, if anything, to do. Last contact was around 4 months ago...any similar experiences or advice
