Why are you still up?

Why are you still awake or up?

For me, I've a family member threatening to discharge themselves from a mental health ward. They aren't sectioned so they could leave. I'm hoping the doctor will talk them round when they are seen. Nurses have said they might phone if he does leave. So it's impossible to sleep now.

A mental health ward would surely phone NoK if someone were trying to discharge themselves in the small hours during a storm? And if they couldn't get through on my mobile, I have a dodgy signal, they'd have the sense to call the landline, right?

Chronic insomniac. Can’t remember last time I slept through a night.

StopStartStop · 07/04/2024 03:00

I was shattered, went to bed at 6pm. Now I've slept, and will be awake until it's time to get up, when I'll fall asleep again.

@StopStartStop your username is sadly apt

Yes @Somethinggenericandforgettable , I hadn't noticed that!

StopStartStop · 07/04/2024 03:05

This cup of Yorkshire tea is great, though. Maybe even worth it.

That would be the most sensible to me but who is to say they use their common sense. Hoping you get some rest soon!

TragicMuse · 07/04/2024 03:08

I went to a party. Now home and fancy another glass of wine. Husband and teen are asleep, no responsibilities tomorrow, so I'm kicking up my heels...

Bf my 3 day old baby girl 🩷

Aww...congratulations

TurtleMoon · 07/04/2024 03:12

DS (3) woke up screeching and came into our room, swiftly followed by DS (5.5). DH with little one, me with big one, hopes of a nice day tomorrow fading rapidly...

37 weeks pregnant… pregnancy insomnia is horrendous

lucya66 · 07/04/2024 03:22

Got my three month old next to me fast asleep and I can’t drift off. Haven’t slept at all since 9pm tonight, tossing and turning.

is it boiling hot or do I have post partum flush?

GLC789 · 07/04/2024 03:32

Nearly 37 weeks pregnant.

3rd wee of the night 😂. It's an Olympic sport to get from bed to the bathroom!

Hippee · 07/04/2024 03:34

Thinking of all of you who are worrying and hoping for a good resolution (sorry for your loss @CadoAvo ) Hope things don't look so bad in the light of day @hogwartsfailure

Mine is completely self-inflicted. I always wake at 3 with a hot flush if I have had a third glass of wine.

MagentaRocks · 07/04/2024 03:36

Insomnia. Very rarely sleep well. It's exhausting

I had chemotherapy on Wednesday. I went to bed at 11pm, slept for a couple of hours but am now wide awake due to nausea and heartburn.

Giggorata · 07/04/2024 03:59

Just got back from going to A and E with my friend. She is OK.

I hope everyone else and their loved ones are, too.

Newnamedillydally · 07/04/2024 04:02

I’ve been up a few hours due to a bad cold. Whole body aches with headache and a sore throat. Contemplating getting up to get some pain killers as even my feet ache but can’t muster up the energy as yet.

insomniacdreams · 07/04/2024 04:02

OP, so sorry you are having such a difficult time. I have a lot of experience with a family member being in and out of a similar facility and I’m certain they will call you if they discharge themselves. I’m hoping things improve soon for your family member.

I’m also part of the pregnancy insomnia crew. Congrats to those of you up and breastfeed your newborns.

Along with being up with the usual insomnia, I’m up feeling guilty about being very brutally honest (I’d blame the hormones but I think it’s just a personality trait) and upset my DM. So probably karma mixed in too!

Belshels · 07/04/2024 04:06

Woken up by insomniac husband coughing... Worried as he had anti biotics and finished a few days ago, but still coughing loads and full of mucus. He says I was snoring, so has moved downstairs to sofa. I'm now wide awake, as puppy thought it was morning as I got up to go to loo. Went downstairs to get cup of tea and banana, and pup followed, so just done a circuit of the garden with him, hoping he will sleep later so i can catch up on my sleep!!

ImOddsAndEnds · 07/04/2024 04:17

Insomnia here too. Feels as though I've never slept.

Oh gosh, I hope it is the 6am kind!

Turned out to be an in between night. She woke at 4.20 and fed but we mostly dozed off again until 6. So not as bad as some nights!

Ooh where were you? I have had to cancel my holiday bc of family illness so I would love to hear about other people's

We went to Cape Verde, landed at Gatwick but then had to drive up to Staffordshire.

We’re also going to be moving house in the next month so that’s now playing on my mind. Got a million things to do.

Cape Verde was amazing though

@adviceneeded1990

i was recently unwell with one of the many virus going around.

I don't remember the previous time I was unwell in that way (plenty of other issues though) and I hate cough syrup, but to shut my friend up I 'gave it a go'. With an old bottle of Benylin, when they were allowed to put the 'good stuff' in it. Two nights sleep!! I was a different person.

I tried but I couldn't find anything like the old stuff 🙄🥲
