Why are you still up?

Why are you still awake or up?

For me, I've a family member threatening to discharge themselves from a mental health ward. They aren't sectioned so they could leave. I'm hoping the doctor will talk them round when they are seen. Nurses have said they might phone if he does leave. So it's impossible to sleep now.

@Somethinggenericandforgettable

Sorry to hear about your relative.

Is there any chance the Dr might decide to CTO them if they will not continue with the voluntary admission?

I really don't know. I would prefer a CTO although I fear how that might impact them. They were meant to be discharged this coming week. They still have suicide ideation and said as much on the phone tonight. At least they are being open with these thoughts now. Or at least they are being open with family :/ there's a complete breakdown between them and nightshift, possibly even them and the ward now, so much distrust and despairing.

Edit: Ignore me. I got confused and forgot what CTO meant. I was thinking they might get one of the temporary hold measures.

What are you allergic/intolerant to? What have you eaten today? 2am mystery!

I wish I knew! I think dairy but it’s hit and miss. I have a feeling the nandos sauce we used at home might be to blame and I swear this happened last time I ate this sauce…so many options it’s hard to tell.

CadoAvo · 07/04/2024 02:11

I'm in the middle of a miscarriage and I'm up watching Netflix because I'd rather not lie in bed tossing and turning whilst my partner snores away 😩

That must be really worrying, but in all honesty talking about the ideation is a comparatively good thing, because the people who are usually a genuine threat to themselves are the ones whose minds are settled and are not talking about it.

Do Nando's list ingredients anywhere?

@CadoAvo that's shit, life is so heartbreaking at times

I’m sorry I’ve been in this boat this year too and it’s sometimes hard for people to grasp how bad it can be. Life can be rubbish!

Somethinggenericandforgettable · 07/04/2024 02:17

@Georgethecat1 onions...xanthan gum...sunflower seed oil. I googled a random Nando's sauce and those are the ones that jump out at me for potential GI aches and upset

I suddenly came down with really bad tonsillitis on Friday and sleeping is really difficult at the moment for me with the amount of pain I have in my throat despite taking regular pain relief and just feeling pretty rubbish/worn down with it - it's making it really hard to settle down and get to sleep, which ironically I'm sure I probably need lots of at the moment!

My dog woke me at 1.30 am for her breakfast! She’s 12 years old and is on steroids and they completly control her stomach.

HiCandles · 07/04/2024 02:29

I have been asleep but am now up breastfeeding 9 week old baby. Hoping that tonight will be one where she goes back to sleep until 5/6am and not one of the ones where she wakes every 40 mins after this first wake. Husband soundly sleeping of course.

Oh gosh, I hope it is the 6am kind!

Our two year old has decided she needs to sing (screech like a cat in heat) at the top of her voice while she dances in her cot.

I'm sitting with my 4 week old grandson in Great Ormond Street hospital, he had open heart surgery at 2 days old, due to a rare defect .He is unable to breathe without an Optiflow machine and we have been told there's something wrong with his lungs but won't get any answers until Thursday when they hold their MDT meeting.

That must be so difficult for all of you. I hope your little grandson improves and life regains some mundane normality.

I've just arrived in Canada where it's only 10pm (body clock 3am). Having room service before collapsing into bed.

RudolfsLeftToe · 07/04/2024 02:52

I’ve got awful stomach ache too @Georgethecat1 i’m currently on all fours across the coffee table because it’s the only position that doesn’t hurt 😕 its so bad and comes in waves that I did think it might be labour for a short while but then realised I was probably being over dramatic.
So sorry for everyone going through a horrendous time, it’s always worst in these small hours.

Sladuf · 07/04/2024 02:54

Sorry to read this OP. I can relate unfortunately because we had a relation who was staying at hospital voluntarily but decided to vanish one evening. Nobody knew where she was and eventually she was found very drunk at a nearby train station.
We used to get phone calls at all time of the day and night because she was in a hospital somewhere and causing problems.

Must have run in the family as my Grandfather did much the same thing. He’d been admitted with a water infection, which was causing him to be delirious. A few days after we’d visited and he was better, he got very restless and wasn’t prepared to wait until he’d been told he was fine to go.. The one Sunday he discharged himself but didn’t actually tell anyone he was going.
We eventually found him at one of his favourite pubs. First thing he did was when we walked in was offer to buy a round of drinks!

Hope your relative is ok.

I’m still awake because I’m in a music listening mood. Currently listening to my Bluetooth speaker on quite a low volume with my iPod on shuffle.
