What kind of person are you when tipsy?

They say the truth comes out when you're drunk, is this true? Old Fashioned cocktails make me irrationally happy and I'm not normally happy Grin how true is this anecdote?

I'm just more willing to talk lol.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 07/04/2024 01:11

Far more human, and generally much happier. Sobriety is as dull as ditchwater, and it really doesn't suit a lot of people.

flowerysuit · 07/04/2024 01:15

Therapeutic dosage is very welcome then I suppose. I wouldn't say I'm boring sober but certainly responsible, it's nice to cut loose

Chatty, then silly, then sleepy Grin

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 07/04/2024 01:19

I have social anxiety that seems to disappear when I’m drunk. So I just talk to people a lot. I think I’m actually quite sociable naturally or I would be if I didn’t have anxiety, so my true personality comes out when I drink. I don’t drink very often though so unfortunately this very rarely happens.

Wibblywobblylikejelly · 07/04/2024 01:20

Chatty and horny.
DH smiles while I drink.....I am feral.

Yip. I would never advocate becoming a screaming alcoholic as being a healthy, responsible choice for anyone, but by the same token I don't think it's fair to pillory anyone who uses a couple of pints or glasses of wine a day as a relaxation aid, or because it helps them maintain a healthy mental state and mood.

Plenty of people use psychiatric meds to achieve the same thing, plenty of those are toxic to health and come with side-effects, and nobody would dare criticise anyone for being "reliant" on them.

I also can't be bothered with Unit-counters who wet the bed at the thought of someone having 15 per week instead of 14. If that's the sort of thing you stress about, that will take more of a toll on your health than the drink, and you really need to learn how to let that go.

goingdownfighting · 07/04/2024 01:35

I become really chatty and quite silly. Everything is wonderful and hilarious, food is amazing, everyone is beautiful, the music is amazing, I'm beautiful and skinny and I can dance like Beyoncé.

And chips with chilli sauce and cheese afterwards is the best thing I've ever known!

StarlightLady · 07/04/2024 06:16

Randy as hell. 🥹

Well said.

Same as you lot 😎 Loud, talkative, affectionate. Everything seems a bit more sparkly and I'm filled with geniality. I've had quite a big alcohol problem in the past so, regretfully, I don't drink that often any more. I like tipsy me!

Having spent most of my life around drinkers (sober and drunk), I'd say it's true that alcohol exposes people's real characters. In a very messy way, to be sure, but I avoid mean and maudlin drunks because they'll be hard work sober, too.

Linedbook · 07/04/2024 08:14

I like slightly tipsy me, it's like I become thenlerson I'm supposed to be with inhibitions loosened.

I definitely think a person's real personality comes out when drunk. I've never met a nasty drunk who isn't also nasty when stressed/under pressure.

Deliadidit · 07/04/2024 08:14

An idiot like lost people on alcohol, although at the time I’m sure I thought I was witty and not a bore at all!

whatwouldAnnaDelveydo · 07/04/2024 08:37

Horny

CeriB82 · 07/04/2024 08:40

Sleepy.

I dont get drunk anyway. Havent been drunk since 1999. Hate it. I gave a drink but alternate

Riapia · 07/04/2024 08:45

Anybody’s.
😉😁😁

dudsville · 07/04/2024 08:52

For the most part I just get really merry and then sleep heavily, but I also lose a bit of control and say things that I know consciously I'm thinking but it would be better not to say. My job requires me to be very diplomatic and solution focused, and I'm this way in life day to day, and these comments aren't cringe worthy social abominations, just things I wouldn't have said when sober.

Savoyafternoon · 07/04/2024 08:57

I become very chatty and come out with all sorts of rubbish that I wouldn’t do sober. But I also move on quite quickly to being very easily tearful and also forget chunks of time. I wake up the next morning feeling dreadful.
For me it’s not particularly fun and I avoid it most of the year.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 07/04/2024 09:17

I’m the one dancing on the table 😂🙈.

You must have some stories to tell! (If you can remember them)

I've done some daft things under the influence, but never shagged anybody I wouldn't have shagged sober. Quite surprising, though it was relaxing to realise I could trust my judgement in that regard. Spending money - and giving it away - now, that was a different matter (and yes, it is a character weakness of mine 😳)

PlasticOno · 07/04/2024 10:08

Honestly, I think this is one of those questions where the person themselves doesn’t get any kind of accurate perception. I may think I’m a witty, charming raconteur after a couple of glasses of wine. Other people may feel I’m a garrulous bore with no filter and a tendency to break into song and smash things.

😂😂 I'm sure you're all those things. The people you're drinking with will only notice the witty, charming bit though!

Hoglet70 · 07/04/2024 10:16

I definitely overcome my anxiety in social situations.

whatisforteamum · 07/04/2024 10:23

I'm laughing at these.
Having been a very chatty horny person anyway drink made me quiet and I just fall asleep.
Proper lightweight me.🤣🤣
Stopped drinking in lockdown tbh.
I like it for the relaxing qualities though
