Anyone work for DWP and can explain the LCWRA assessment process to me?

To preface this-I'm not trying to pick any kind of fight, just feeling a bit lost in the benefits system.

My DH has become really unwell, and has had to give up work. He sent off the UC50 form and they have sent back their report to UC without an assessment (he sent about 50 pages of medical reports plus the PIP assessment from Jan 24). This was received by UC on the 22nd March and he is yet to receive an outcome. I have called and left messages on the journal twice now in the last week with no reply. I am caring for him, and frankly we are skint as he was the main earner. £400 a month is the difference between feeding ourselves or using a food bank (which we had to do this week, it was a humbling experience).

Apparently it's with a decision maker'. I suppose I am asking two questions.

A) is the lack of medical assessment a good or bad thing?
B) what's a reasonable amount of time to wait before they announce the decision?

TIA
