Agatha Christie…set myself a challenge

I’ve set myself a chalk or goal to read all of the Agatha Christie books in a year.
I don’t even know if I should read them by her investigator (so Marple before Poirot or vice versa).

Has anyone else done this? How would you suggest I start?

I read them all in order of publication which was really interesting. You could see her trialling plot ideas which then developed into some of her major works. I also enjoyed seeing societal attitudes change as she wrote across multiple decades.

Enjoy!

I'd try and read the particular series (Marple, Poirot, Tommy & Tuppence) in the correct order but otherwise just see what you feel like - you might get a bit fed up with Poirot after 6 books on the trot and decide to read one of the others for a break!

Sounds great OP! I should steal this idea. Do keep us posted on what you decide to do

Personally I'd go by investigator, but I can see the benefit of watching Christie's work develop over time

Did she alternate between her detectives? Which one is the first published?
I’m really looking forward to it!

Her first published novel was The Mysterious Affair at Styles. This is a Poirot novel but she alternated writing so didn't write all the Poirot stories before starting the Marples. She even deliberately withheld some novels to be published after her death, to be the final Poirot and Marple books.
