What's the best thing from a chinese takeaway if you are trying to lose weight / stay healthy?!!!!

I lost a lot of weight even with a weekly Chinese takeaway. I loved mushroom chow mein.

@Astariel I'd love a Chinese menu like that; I could get similar food in a central restaurant but definitely not a local takeaway

Even if I find a more ‘standard’ Chinese on a local delivery service, there are plenty of stir fried dishes and vegetable dishes and such like alongside the deep fried chicken balls and chips with curry sauce.

Even the Chinese restaurant in the small Scottish village my parents live in has plenty of quite healthy dishes on the menu. You can get Chinese mushrooms with pak choi and ginger and garlic pork, as well as crispy beef and salt and chilli chicken balls.

It goes without saying that, if you love a box of beige from the Chinese, that’s totally fine too. But let’s not pretend British Chinese takeaway is all “unhealthy”.

I actually found it near impossible to find anything on Deliveroo that didn’t have Chinese and English names for the menu items. I live in a suburb of a regional city.

Just eat had more ‘standard’ local takeaways too. But without photos. They all have a range of stir fried things, soups and boiled rice though.

Admittedly some of the Deliveroo option feature the more challenging end of Chinese cuisine (to my British palate!) too.

But also some truly fantastic dish names. Wind and sand lamb ribs in the desert sounds amazing.

depends on your chinese takeaway. if its usual crappy fake Chinese that is available in most of UK: it all uses insane amounts of oil, salt and sugar. so if you are seriously wanting to lose weight I wouldn't reccommend it. even the stir fries and soups can be very calorific.

if you are lucky enough to live somewhere with authentic Chinese places - steamed fish with ginger and garlic with steamed rice, steamed dim sum (in moderation), haihaneese chicken rice etc.

Chinese food is extremely easy and quick to make at home and can be very healthy... I find the Chinese cooking demystified channel on youtube very helpful. I just reduce the amount of oil in most recipes. just need to buy a good wok, some basic ingredients and you are good to go.

I now remember why I don't get Chinese very often
