Covid slot booking

I feel like covid really messaged things up. It feels like you can't just 'go' anymore. Things seem to be book a slot. Swimming for example you have to book a slot and then only get an hour. You can no longer go swimming for a good couple of hours or so. My SN children love going to a pool . But the stress of travel getting changed etc is just not worth the stress for the sake of one hour.

Other things to not just swimming. Covid is not what it was anymore. But its still a mess up

Not in my experience. Covid isn't affecting anything in my life any more. Where are you that you still have to book for things in advance?

TheSnowyOwl · 06/04/2024 18:08

Lots of things relating to children seem to have stayed at prebooked slots here. I wonder if companies realised it ended up being more profitable once restrictions were lifted.

We find having a membership at a pool works best for her (have two ND children) as it means we aren’t so restricted to times.

I agree with you OP - since covid a more kids activities have to be pre-booked and are subjected to strict slots. Swimming and soft play particularly

I prefer booking to turning up, finding a massive queue and still not getting in after queuing for ages.

I think it was starting before Covid. What Covid has done is become an excuse for certain services to decline, such as banking.

It’s probably a CoL thing where they are trying to maximize revenue.

mondaytosunday · 06/04/2024 18:40

I've always had to book soft play.
Swimming there are hours fue different activities but I haven't had to book.
I find it's more about safety limits/insurance, nothing to do with Covid restrictions.

I think the people being turned away from Beamish this weekend and last weekend will be wishing they'd booked in advance!!

Ponderingwindow · 06/04/2024 18:44

I like that crowd levels are managed and you don’t have to wait to get in anymore. Book your slot, have fun. Much more efficient.

Domino’s never brought back half and half pizzas after Covid - a travesty!

The pool I go to stopped slot bookings in June 2021 (during Covid we had 45 minute slots which I hated).
That's a council pool, but I've also swum at a private pool which doesn't have slot bookings either, you just turn up.
