NC as a bit niche.
I want to downsize as in live in a much smaller space but want to keep my money in property so my dc (1) can have it when I die ( I’m 60s but life expectancy about 5-7 years tops so I’ll never need a care home )
However, I can’t afford to buy a big enough property to house dc and family and me.
I've thought of buying a 3 bedroom house, converting the garage or having a granny annexe put in the garden for me to live in then renting out the rooms as a house share.
I’m not looking to make money , just cover utilities, insurance, repairs. if there’s any extra I suppose I can put it away for dgc.
Does this sound like it would work? I thought renting to a family is not going to work, they don’t want a pensioner in the garden but 3 single working people might be happy with a nice patio and a garden that’s kept tidy so ok to look at.
Rubbish idea or one that might work?
