and after several years, I still have no picture in my head... just off to work now. Do I have the worst sense of direction in history?

I tried! still not a clue where I am or where I am going at any time - I am never going to get any picture in my head of the layout of the place, it is beyond me

Are you saying your work place isn't on Google maps and you get lost every time you go there? Is it the only place you have trouble getting to?

Are you dyslexic by any chance? A friend of mine has a truly terrible sense of direction, and she has dyslexia.

ADHD here and I don't either.

I know how to get from A to B, B to C, C to A. Not a clue how they relate to each other.

yes I am dyslexic - that is probably why I have so much trouble! thank you - for some reason I had never made that connection.

There is no map of the place itself. It is high security, so no maps, plans, phones, tracker watches, paper, pens, etc. And I have been there several years but still can't orientate myself AT ALL

It is a bit like that. I can go from office A to office B. Then if I want to go to office C I only know the way from office A. So I go back to office A and go from there to office C. And people who left after me have gone straight there and arrived before me, and I feel stupid!

Do you mean like for example an old university and what the academics' offices would be like? So lots of rabbit warren passage type places?

I worked in one historical institution, which was a joy, but eventually somebody did have to produce a sort of topographical map of the offices. Because loads of people had trouble navigating their way round. I tended to use paintings, but lots of people didn't find that helpful.

Yep, that's it exactly. ADHD dx.

I can drive out of a city and know which roads do that but get them mixed up and can't relate the different routes to each other.

yes, it is probably a bit like that, but we will never have a map for security reasons
