Nice supermarkets Sunday evening

Not a very exciting topic but we are flying to Nice on Sunday (landing at 7pm) and staying in Vieux Nice in an apartment. We are planning on getting the tram from the airport so hoping to check in at around 8pm. Does anyone know if there are any supermarkets/corner shops that will still be open that we can buy some ham/cheese/baguette etc for an easy dinner? Merci beaucoup. Any other day of the week it would be fine but I'm concerned about it being a Sunday and having hungry children!

Would there be something open at the airport?

ABCDEFUrightoff · 05/04/2024 18:55

I have no idea and we're only flying with hand luggage so not much space for taking sandwiches

I think you'll struggle on a Sunday night, sorry OP

airport will have Paul type hard baguette sandwiches for about €13 each

personally I'd either send a message to the people you've booked the appartment with and see if they'll leave eggs breads and cheese in the flat, or otherwise just head to the nearest local cafe and eat something quickly then bed

ironically the restaurants will be open...

If the restaurants are open then we'll happily go for something quick and easy. Apartment is being managed by a 3rd party agent so I'm not sure they will offer that kind of service unfortunately. I didn't think about all of this before I booked the cheap Sunday evening flights!

Why don't you look on Google maps in the area where your accommodation is and look for shops etc nearby- it shows when they are open etc?

Might have been an idea to put (France) in brackets after Nice in your OP, @OP 😂

Lots of people are going to be clicking to find out why you don’t understand that Waitrose has to observe English Sunday trading laws!

ABCDEFUrightoff · 05/04/2024 19:13

I thought about that afterwards but I don't think I can edit it now

@TimeandMotion yes I took the title to mean nice and was about to tentatively ask how OP felt about Tesco metro!

I haven't been to Nice sorry @ABCDEFUrightoff, hopefully someone will come along who has

I thought was this a new thing wandering around empty supermarkets ...

Saveurs De Provence at the airport is (apparently) open til 10pm

There's a Monop' too but I can't see it's opening hours

You can have a look on Google.
