What's this structure in Andalusia in the middle of a vast agricultural land?

We were on A-4 between Seville and Cordoba. This shining structure stood out for miles over above the slightly hilly agricultural land. I think we were probably looking at the direction towards Alamillo, Écija.

I went through Google maps roughly in that area, but couldn't find anything could be identified like this.

What is it?

I was intrigued by this so did a Google- looks like it might be the Torresol energy tower?

I don't know how to do links on the app (sorry) but if you look on Google images it comes up. Less exciting on the up-close images 🤣

Probably this one. Using reverse image search ( lens)on my phone has been a game changer. Even watching a film you can take a photo and find where they are filming etc.

This is just fascinating! Thanks, guys!

I would look this up, as there's always hope that one day we can replace the dirty fuel with clear energy entirely!

That has just blown my mind! I wonder why we don't have them here?

Spain have got much more space and much more sunshine. They're a good place to try these new approaches - we can be the test bed for offshore wind in return.

I think they should really try out in the desert area. Would that allow balancing the inequality for those African countries who have no money at all? Or they'd get exploited instead?...

The recurring problem with this is that solar power plants use a lot of water. A great many solutions to this - some of them very weird - are being tried. You also need to get the power from the desert to where it's needed.

Yes, just read a bit more. They are like conventional heat energy to need steam turbines to convert the power to electricity.
