Getting a job after getting esa long term

I've been on esa for many years due to chronic and severe health issues and caring responsibilities on top.

In the last year or so I've noticed improvements in my health. I've been doing a few hours volunteering, which DWP know about. I no longer have caring responsibilities.

I feel desperate to get back into work, albeit part time. I'm doing an online course to build up some skills, but I was wondering, how do you tackle this with DWP? Do I just start applying for jobs and only mention it if I get one, or should I go to the Jobcentre first and explain I'm hoping to find something part time and within my capabilities (nothing physical)?

Has anyone been in a similar situation?
