Relocating with older teen

Am thinking of relocating to a different region, closer to family. My teenager may be going to university next year.
Thoughts, good/bad experiences?

Is this not a thing? We would have moved years ago but stayed to keep dd in same school/friendship group. Now if we move, she won't have a base here to visit friends but does it matter much?
